Stuff I would like to see in Elite Dangerous

This is what I would LOVE to see in Elite. Not everyone will agree what should be in the game, but hey.. maybe some of it will be cool enough to make it through :)


Exploration

  • Stuff to find other than planets
  • Ship graveyards to salvage
  • Abandoned hulks to explore (think Event Horizon :) )
  • Previously unknown space stations 'cut off' from the rest of the known space (Even if they make 100 of these and scatter them within 10,000 Ly of SOL they would still probabily be mostly unfound even after a few years). People can choose to keep them secret or announce them to the world.
  • Amazing views : Co-ordinates sell for much higher than normal
  • Wormholes : Wormhole drives required to navigate - Choose how far or which direction.. but not both!
  • Cockpit repair module (that fixes damaged but not broken cockpits)


Home

  • Ability to make yourself a home outside of your ship from a hollowed out asteroid to dome on an acid atmosphere planet to a mansion on an earthlike. These could be improved by special units bought by traders, found dropped by NPC's (rare so that they are the equivalent to the trade value) or stolen by explorers finding other (NPC?) homes.
  • Somewhere to store goods and modules
  • Explorers can search for these places to ransack (but not destroy)
  • Build special rare goods for sale
  • Robot scientists that can be given a standard module and told to improve it.. 2 months later you have a modified unit thats better than before (or broken)


Modules

  • Han-Solo style hack equipment to attempt to improve it (but also have a chance of breaking it) - Costs credits or rare components
  • Special improved named modules to get with with factions when above certain ranks, - Not covered by insurance, replaced with equivalent standard unit.
  • Special missions that reward a choice of units (for a price, ie. standard price for module + 20%) ie. Federation Military Grade 5-A FSD thats the equivalent to a 6A FSD in a 5A slot. Not covered by insurance, replaced with equivalent standard unit. Military grade beam lasers with better tracking or lower heat emission.


Missions/Factions

  • Linked Mission's with some kind of (personal/faction) story to them
  • Fix the Faction missions that take you to Permit systems so you actually get continuation when you get there.
  • USS with instant missions.. Trader being attacked by a wing of Vipers offers you 100k credits if you get them off his back etc.


Aliens

  • There need to be Thargoids.. ships to attack that drop special goods, special module that can salvage the wrecks to find alien tech.

Immersion
  • Seamless shift between SC and normal space
  • Sort out the jerkyness in hyperspace, maybe start pre-loading the next system and doing everything during the countdown instead of hammering the PC during the video phase
  • More names for NPC's.. lost track of how many Ariels i've found trundling around in USS's.
  • Some dirt, damage, repairs etc on the stations. And more types
 
That's a good list and I agree with most of it. Two things though, player manufacturing and storing of commodities. Neither of these are likely to happen. FD have said that both of these go against what they are trying to achieve for the game. Player made bases from hollowed out asteroids have been put forward by FD and so has storage of equipment. Personally, I would love to see xeno-archaeology... Oh and Cat People of course :D

I wonder why they are against us storing goods is there a blog somewhere or something?

Living in a spaceship is ok but either I want to be able to get up and do stuff in my spaceship or to park up and build something.
 
Prolly just a matter of storing stuff by location so that people can't game the economy by magically transporting good from one place to another to sell them.

Storing by location would be a given. Could make it so you have to buy a storage container, every one gets exponentially more expensive so that people can only have 5-10 different ones before it becomes stupidly expensive.. stops people storing bits and bobs all over the place.
