Stuff that bugs me : )

Been playing many hundreds of hours and although I love the game mostly, couple things that are annoying...

-While in system supercruise, the starfield particles that give one a sense of movement are not realistic and have become really annoying! They don't bother me in hyperspace, but when cruising around a solar system, I don't think they need to be there. It takes away from some really great views! I'd like an option to turn it off completely or turn them waaaayyy down.

-The left hand cockpit system indicator (the one that shows when a planet is being analysed..) will identify a new planet/sun and the second it is identified, it switches to a name label for whatever was just identified without displaying what I just identified (ELW, metal-rich body, Ice rock..whatever). I then have to go into the system map to find out what type of object was identified. It does this about 60% of the time, but other times it works fine??

Anyway...just my opinion ; )

I'm not a fan of the dense cloud of space dust that seems to be everywhere either. Lol
I'd rather have HUD lines like in I-War that aid you in your current velocity and vector. With the option to turn them off.

Also I get the scanning issue alot too.

Hello, Rphtx. :)

Not bothered about the 'space dust' in supercruise, but a better supercruise-target-sub-pane (or whatever it's called) is another matter entirely.

Seriously, FD puzzles everyone from time to time, but I struggle to imagine what they could possibly have been thinking when they came up with it, as it is now. There's all kinds of useful and/or interesting information we could get in there, from planetary descriptions to useful object-relative information (are there bases on it, is it circling a planet, is there a station in orbit, etc?), to nearest-FoR-object proximity, but what do we get...?

Distance and speed indicators that merely reproduce what's already in the UI elsewhere, but in a slightly less consistent fashion than the rest of the interface. Why have we got distance spelled out so many times on the same screen? What was the point? Was there, in fact, ever any point to doing it like this?

I've never found a use for it - and I've only seen one video on YouTube where anyone else seemed to do so (it was apparently slightly handy for landing on a small, high-speed planetoid). Even if FD wants to create loads of missions involving landings on small, high-speed objects in Supercruise, I'm sure this could be done another way, much more efficiently. I support the suggestion for improving the supercruise-target-sub-pane.

Space dust does get annoying, and a velocity vector would be much better.

When a planetary body is scanned, if you can land on it, the display changes to show arrival info instead of planet info. Very annoying if you have no intention of landing there.

The speed/distance gauges on the left hand side (and their blue zones) are handy for travelling to and dropping out at wakes where you don't get the drop out pop-up notice.

I don't have any issue with them being there and they do fit within context. The rest of the panel could/should show lots of other relevant info as well through.
