Stuff yeeting off into oblivion after touching SRV wheels?

Anybody else have this problem?

I spent last week collecting mat's to re-unlock the Guardian SLFs when I first noticed this.
I'd explode a Sentinel, it'd drop two or more mat's, I'd go to collect them and one would "disappear".
After a while I started to suspect something was wrong so I'd be looking at the 2nd mat (in VR) while collecting the 1st and I could see the 2nd mat' just ping away into the air, as soon as it touched my SRV wheel, until it vanished.
Wasn't a big problem while collecting Guardian mat's because most of the good stuff is a single drop (you shoot a spire or arch and one mat' drops on the floor) so, as long as I didn't accidentally drive over the thing I was trying to collect, I didn't have to worry about it pinging off into oblivion.
Even so, a couple of time I'd shoot something, the mat' would fly through the air, land touching my parked SRV's wheel and that'd be enough to sending pinging off, away from me.

It's even worse when you're just using the SRV to collect normal mat's though.
You shoot something on the surface, it dumps a little pile of mat's close together and you WILL "lose" around half of them because your SRV wheels will touch them as you're collecting something else, causing the other mat' to fly off into the distance.

And, to be perfectly clear, I'm not talking about mat's just bouncing a few feet away.
They fly up into the air like they've been shot out of a catapult and vanish into the distance.
You can "test" this by targeting a mat' (with your SRV's cargo scoop retracted) and driving over it as if you are going to collect it, at which point you can see the mat, on your SRV scanner, whizzing off until it reaches the edge of the scanner, before vanishing.

Very surprised that I haven't seen anybody else talking about this, TBH.
I guess, if you're collecting raw mat's from Brain Trees, or whatever, they'll be single drops (like the Guardian stuff) so it won't be as much of an issue but it's a total PITA when you're trying to collect piles of mat's lying close together.
Unless, of course, this is something that's only happening to me?!

I haven't noticed any yeeting, but while collecting raw materials out in the black I have noticed some materials disappearing when I ran them over while trying to pick up other nearby materials.

I'll have to pay closer attention my scanner.

I’ve definitely seen this. I think it might be SRV shield/physics related? I’m not sure I’ve seen it with SRV shields off?

Maybe related; I remember seeing a youtube video where a commander parked a ship, with shield disabled, on top of another ship, also with shield disabled, on a flat planet surface. The bottom ship then switched on their shield, and once it had rebuilt, and the shield “activated”, the upper ship was yeeted at extreme speed into orbit. Can’t find the video now but it seemed like a fun thing to do with an srv, commander or other random objects.

I think shields “push” things, that might be what’s happening?

I think this has been so for as long as I have played the game, so it isn't something new. Just try avoiding driving over materials.

Mine simply disappear if my wheels touch them.
Didn’t see them bounce off my wheels, but guardian mats are super sensitive to being run over.

I’ve also had raws send me into the sky when collecting them on numerous occasions, but it’s been doing that for ages.

It's interesting the see people saying mat's "just disappear" because that's what I thought was happening at first; that things were just getting squished by my SRV wheels.

Fortunately, I was playing in VR and, as a result, I could look down the side of my SRV (in an attempt to avoid one mat' while collecting another) and that's when I realised stuff was twanging off into the far distance upon contact with the SRV wheels.

I dunno.
Maybe FDev intend for this to depict a mat' getting destroyed by your SRV wheels but, for some reason, they can't just make an object disappear so, instead, it just gets moved really quickly to a place where it is, effectively, lost to the player?

Pretty sure it never used to be this bad (for me, at least).
I recall that if I found a meteorite, for example, I'd explode it to dump it's mat's and then I could reverse backward and forward over the pile to collect everything.
When doing that, I would always use the Contacts HUD to target the important stuff first but, having done that, there'd usually be lumps of Sulphur, Nickel or Iron to collect as well.
Now, by the time you've picked up a couple of mat's there'll be nothing else left because it'll all have been yeeted over the horizon.

I posted about this back in March 2023 and was immediately alerted to 4 (!!) previous reports that had expired. All of them appear to mention that the SRV was causing the materials to fly away.
@Stealthie - acknowledged issue, reported Nov ‘21, sounds like what you’re experiencing:
This does sound like the same issue, but the title "Raw materials disappearing seemingly randomly" implies that the SRV wasn't obviously believed to be the culprit.

I've played since 2019 and it most definitely wasn't a thing back then.
I also don't believe that it can be intentional, given that sometimes the SRV itself is yeeted off and can even be destroyed by the event.

It's an Odyssey issue, has been there since it launched.

Untargeted mats, or the srv, get yeeted.

Especially bad for the srv with those cargo canisters you can cut open on foot.

As someone who regularly flyves in legacy the difference in mat behaviour is very noticeable.
