Ships Subjective Ecouragement

Ive basically got three ships My Cobra a Krait 11 and a brand new Cutter

They are all A rated where its needed

Ive been mining in the Cutter and delivered the last couple of runs I also took the Cobra ourt on a Rank up 2 cargo mission and was instantly struck by its amazing agility and responcivness both in normal cruise a SC

I visited a Raw tech broker for the first time (just to upgrade my full Iron Carbon etc from mining ) all well and good

Im sort of toying with Engineering visits soon but it has never enthused me

Whats the max performance upgrades going to do to all three?

Will the Cutter feel more like my Krait now or my Cobra subjectively?

Ive watched a lot of media none has inspired me it all seems to focus on making the "grind" less wearing rather than the joy of a ship coming alive Ive deliberatly not pursued Mats except as part of my normal game play but I have quiet a few just not the sure feeling of the benifits from others

The Cutter feels like a whale dragging a parachute and needs so much time to position for stations , mining its fine and fast still no pirate encounter though

I believe I can confirm if you fire your SLF Pilot before you sell you ltd,s in the station they dont take a cut and you can hire a new one after the sale

Depending on your choices, the answer to this is very broad. I would expect you to get a big boost in speed, jump, protection, firepower and agility with engineering. You can run some mock ups through sites like Coriolis and EDSY to see what sorts of gains you can expect. This forum is great for this. Post your current ship in Corilois, what you want to do with it, and ask the forum to suggest changes. You'll see some fine builds which will give you plenty of ideas.

You will be enthused for engineering after modding your first FSD I reckon :)

Im sure FSD is nice to have but what Im really asking is if my Cutter fully engineered Dirty Drives More Power Better Distributor will ever get close to the Krait or Cobra for sheer agility Im sure I can make the ships more invunerable its the ponderousness im looking to deal with

Nope.. it will stay the drifting piece of whale that it is. It will be faster and a bit more maneuverable. Brakes (what s that?) will be worse. It does off course improve performance but imaging you give your cobra or Mk2 the same treatment ;-)

Engineering does not change the characteristics of a ship. Stats go up, so what its good at originally its better at with engineering.
The drift controls of the cutter are still noticeable. Its a characteristic of the ship. Being many times larger then the cobra i would not expect the cutter to fly like a small ship.

The Cutter will never feel agile even when fully engineered even with FA off. It should end up being basically indestructible once engineered but, if you're expecting it to be an effective combat ship, I'd look elsewhere.

thanks guy I think my Krait is my go to allrounder, its agile as it is and I will concentrate on that first the cutter can be my high fire power hauler and miner and my cobra my buzz around fun taxi recon

Short answer: no the cutter will always fly like a pig, even at G5 dirty drag drives
