I have most of the ED artwork as my desktop background, and just happened one day to see this behind the menagerie of icons:



Thought about the possible options in a situation like that, ninja salvaging, help one of the ships out, rescue station crew etc., while the battle rages on nearby.

Then I looked at the layout of the station's engine/exhausts and couldn't help but think of a certain logo.

Is it an intentional poke at the company that makes a popular internet spaceship game?

Had to go and look at the logo in question to understand what OP referred to. But, no, I don't think it is a(n intentional) poke at anything. The layout is relatively logical, overall, and the artist could have come up with it without realising its previous use.
