Started home from Colonia a few days in advance, and then actually hurried up when I heard about the Chieftain.
I finally get back, pick me up one, trick it out and take it for a test drive.
I like it. Seems nice compared to the Cobra Mk III I'd just spent a couple weeks in on the trek to nowhere and back.
Right up until the moment I yaw into the direction toward the local star and each canopy piece around the cockpit progressively becomes effectively opaque thanks to a unique brushed aluminum texture liberally applied to the "glass". Reminiscent of having spent several days in a high powered combination sandstorm/hurricane.
Maybe had there been some combat damage to explain it, or days/weeks of jumps through dense nebulae... or some reasonable reason for such deplorable viewports. I've not experienced a great many ships, so my experience is somewhat limited here, but I don't recall any of my others having such amazingly depressing views. A bubble here and there, or a bit of a worn look as damage accrues (aka breached), sure... but not this fibrous mass of wth did they use for seeing through?
So, despite generally liking the ride, I'm just disappointed in this sad sad ship.
Please, Lakon, issue a recall on these and fix the dog gone canopies. Otherwise, it'll just get sold back as I will never have a need to drive a ship I can't see out of.
