Suggest Expanding Colonization Range to 20LY!

The current 15LY cap is holding us back! Expanding to 20LY would open dozens of unexplored systems, reduce overcrowding in prime zones, and spread resources more equitably. Imagine better terraforming candidates, richer scientific data, and stronger alliances as we grow outward. This isn’t just about space—it’s about sustainability and unity. Let’s rally the community to make this happen! 🚀✨

Makes it hard for Minor Factions to expand there.
Faction expansion range actually works in a 20 light year cube, so they can reach within a 20 ly colonization range. Technically even within 30 if a first expansion fails (as a subsequent expansion from that same system will use a 30 ly target cube).

This might just open up a few more locations toward the lower/higher end of the galactic plane. Or in certain places like - apparently - where the Distant Worlds 3 colonization effort got to but was (seemingly) cut short of reaching Barnard's Loop due to the 15ly range limit.

One problem with this is that while it might bring some systems into colonizable range, it will just move the goalposts, and now there will be many systems beyond the 20 ly range, and thus people asking for the range to be increased once again...

Because there shouldn't be a range to the mechanic at all anyway. The further you try to go out, the harder and harder it will be to build systems because of the lack of supply lines. Thus Colonization will be self-balancing.

Instead mankind is limited by this artificial and highly restrictive distance limit. Guaranteeing we slowly spread out from SOL in a huge blob, gobbling up systems like locusts.

I think we should be able to build special outposts that boost the range of colonies around that particular colony so we stop having dumb chains of abandoned outposts everywhere.

Maybe restrict these to single-body systems too to prevent them from hogging systems people would actually WANT to colonize as well.

Raise the colonization price based on distance, (the further away from unhabited systems, the expensier the colonization license) and completely remove any other existing artificial limits

I don't think 5 extra light years would improve the situation you're trying to remedy though. Your idea is good but you're just being WAY too conservative. 20LY isn't nearly enough either.
we need system colonization from the fleet carrier, that way it doesn't matter if it's 15 or 20 LYs, because it would be the RIGHT 15-20 LYs.

Lookin at galaxy map, with right filters, shows various of branches going on few diffrent directions, and most of previously empty systems within bubble, are all colonized.

Its actually more and more harder to find unpopulated system within bubble.

It all happens quite faster than imaged it will be, with 15ly range, but it also makes sense.

Not only more systems are created, but it ensures that supply hub/systems is never as far to deliver to yet next new system and so on, so its selfsustainable, as hubs will be created along the ways, wich are under development.

Give it year or two, there will be considerable distance obtained, in current pace.
But end result, will be quite something, such as for example, reaching beagle point by colonization. It might take couple of years. :)
