Suggested name for 1.4. Civit Bang

Why Civit bang? Because Bang! and the grind is gone.

Having read the current beta forum I've come to the conclusion that I am unlikely to be remotely interested in powerplay, but I will be grateful for the other fixes to the game. Powerplay? It's sounding more like Powergrind.

Please Frontier, can I suggest that you next concentrate on adding variety instead of more grind. I have enjoyed the game from release by avoiding grinding anything but you seem to be trying to force people down the grinding route. Why? I do a bit of this, a bit of that, head over to community goals but I don't aim to come top tier. Working repeatedly at a simple task is not my idea of fun.

Personally I would love you to direct your efforts to fleshing out the universe a bit. Add some more skins and showcase them on AI ships. Make the space stations and planets vary, especially the station interiors. Add new mission types. In short, keep the game open play but make it more varied. Please don't add any more repetition.
 
I'd like 1.4 to give something to us loners who prefer to play alone and not in wings or Powerplay/factions.

Other things I'd like:-

More variety in stations design (been playing Frontier and the variety there was better)
"Fake" black markets setup by the police (again, from Frontier)
Faces in the bulletin board (surely I can't be the only one who finds pure text soulless)

Docking computer module takes 2 slots. (Wishful thinking ;))

I agree Steve50; as a mainly Solo player I also want the full tiers of NPC's as noted in the DDF. But until then just facial avatars in station would help.

Of course with the expansions should come so much more full fledged content which you, I, and other loner types will love; but its taking a lot of patience. I'll give you a rep,...well I tried.

I would like to see some love for explorers. Some unusual phenomena the appear in space such as comets, massive ship wrecks that we can fly into (with smaller ships and some degree of skill) and collect valuable artefacs, maybe (with planetary landings) collecting samples from distant planets etc.
 
I'd like to see some love for the actual ships. For a start, it's a joke that we can't name our vessels. There was some great ideas in the DDS about actual ship reputation. We also need ALOT more weapon and module variety. I mean, what happened to the Overcharged weapons from beta? Oh, and CONSTRICTOR, because shark's teeth paint-job.

Military grade weapons,
Thargoids,
Other Aliens,
Panther,
a good mid range fighter 3 large hard points for example a layout like the eagle but just bigger and just as maneuverable (as the FDL is a flop)
More goods to sell,
More rare mine-able items for example gem stones.
All weapons made available in all classes, for example class 4 multicannons (gimbled) pulse lasers, beam lasers e.t.c


There is so much potential in this game but all they seem to cater for is the pk crowd and the people who just want to upset everyone.
 
My 1.4 design - Wreckers

1; percentage chance destroyed ship will be a wreck
2: if not a wreck then percentage chance of salvageable module
3; Add modules that allow salvage to be scooped
4; add module that allowed wrecks or parts of wrecks to be towed behind ship.
5; add salvage yard station -allows you to store and rebuild your wrecks
6; increase module variability and manufacturer traits.
7; introduce intelligence gathering missions
8; add intelligence scanner basic, intermediate, advanced. Intermediate and advanced available to certain major power ranks
9; Care full there is a mysterious thing happening to some in hyperspace
10; increase galactic average of mineable commodities.
11; add Bofor auto cannon.
12; Add Boa constrictor
13; Add Imperial Cutter
14; Add Federation Corvette
15; Add Wolf
16; Add tracker drone. - lets you see your prey on the galaxy map for 6 hours.
17; Add rare spawn alien wreck
18; Add NPC hirelings; Specialisations; Combat, miner, trader;
19; add multi laser - rapid firing scaled up offensive version of point defence.

What I would really like to see is
1) Better opportunities for in-game player collaboration - e.g. missions for factions that require wings to be formed to perform them
2) Better NPCs, so more continuity and relationship building with factions.
 
I guess less balancing...

So much energy seems to being expended in order to accommodate actual players playing together, and trying to make it 'fair'. As others have said, let's have more, and more interesting content, whether it be for people playing alone or people winging up. FD constantly say they are aiming for cooperative gameplay, yet so much energy seems to be going on balancing competitive issues, and then adding more, which will presumably end up needing to balanced at a later stage.

I will admit, in the life span of an online game, it's still early days, so I have hope. :)
