Suggested tweak to low value fines C&P mechanic.

To me this Anonymous Access protocol for 100 cr fines etc is a bit dry, frankly just dull and not to mention stupidly inconvenient for the level of offence.

Here's my suggestion to improve the experience but I realise it'd probably be quite complicated to add to the game :(

  • Players should be able to stack fines of less than 500 cr. Anon Access is not implemented.

  • At a certain threshold, say 1000 Cr, access to certain missions is denied "Outstanding Fines" and or handing in bounty vouchers etc results in a smaller increase in faction rep while fines are outstanding.

  • At a mid level threshold, 2500 Cr in unpaid fines more missions are locked out of the mission/passenger boards and a reminder is displayed on docking. No rep can be gained from handing in existing missions or vouchers. In certain systems the controlling faction may choose to disown you sooner while other less picky factions continue to do business with you.

  • Finally at 5000 Cr you are restricted to Anon Access but are still able to pay locally.

Of course all values and thresholds can be tweaked but I think this would make for more interesting game play and perhaps even allow the inclusion of some interesting "redemption" tasks if the player was unable or unwilling to pay:

"Attend to this matter and we'll wipe the slate clean..."

Pretty much this.
As it is now its even more nonsensical when you have a few million credits of bounty to claim on an Allied system but you are stuck with anonymous access because you got a miserable 200cr bounty on you.

So, parking up and paying your fine before you do any other business is too much? I mean you were going to have to park anyway. It's not like it's any different from just requesting docking. I see no inconvenience at all.

Or just follow the game's rules and don't be carless at incurring bounties, then you won't ever have to worry about Anon access. Welcome to C&P commander. Do the crime suffer the consequences. o6

Welcome to the forums Cmdr, i see that despite your Mostly Harmless rep you play them well. A little too well if you ask me.

Anyway, Gunner is right, its silly.

Or you guys can accept the 3.0 C&P system the way it was designed by FD rather than complain about every little detail. This is the way it is for a reason. Sorry if you think FD is out to get you people with updates like this...and regards to this toxic trash of a forum, I finally bit the bullet and made a forum account to finally to put you complaining commanders in your place. Cry more to FD, your the reason the statement "Get good" exists in the first place.

Wow... that was a bit overly harsh, I think.

I mean, Oubs and Gunner aren't rage-quitting. They are just looking for some QoL compromises.

And don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're here to defend the C&P mechanics, but sheesh...

It's cool Vin, this ones an Alt trolling account. Even named him after a boxer.

Note that the OP is asking to make it a little easier or more convenient to pay fines, not trying to avoid them at all.

I haven't jumped into 3.0 yet, but I like the suggestions made by GunnerBill.
FDev and the players should embrace feedback, whether or not it gets implemented.

If the fine could be paid at the station, I don't see it as a problem (I haven't racked up a fine yet).

However, if I have to go to an interstellar factor to pay a speeding ticket, that's a little absurd.

I actually think this needs to be adjusted. Fines should be able to be paid off at stations like before and bounties need the interstellar factor though you could ALSO pay fines off there. While I rarely get fines it does seem like a bit of a silly requirement for you to have to go hunting about trying to find an underworld contact to clear a 100cr fine when you should be able to just sort it out with the local authorities.
