Suggesting some UI improvements for keyboard users

  • Ability to type a number when buying commodities.
  • Press End to max a number out instead of holding right and waiting for the ramp up.
  • Faster shortcuts for galaxy/system map tabs navigation instead of having to click or navigate.
  • Make SRV movement more similar to other games' wheeled vehicles. Especially the Scorpion. That one should be very responsive.
  • Esc to back out of a menu by one level instead of opening the Game Menu. Try backing out of Galaxy Map or Social menu or editing a bookmark. All different.
  • Keybinds for very specific sub-menus, including targeting a specific module in combat or Synthesizing Limpets. Especially the Board Ship button when driving an SRV.
There were a couple more, but I forgot while typing these. Might add later.

Not all keyboards have an End key.

Not sure about this at all.

Back function returns you to no further than one step from the menu you left for example clicking on the Gal Map option in the Codex then using Back to return takes you to the opening screen of the Codex about three to four clicks from where you were.

If you have ever played with a game controller (eg. in consoles), I highly recommend getting one, if for nothing else, to drive SRVs. (You can switch back to your preferred controls otherwise.) Game controllers are not enormously expensive, and driving SRVs with them is a delight (just remember to turn drive assist off. That just messes it up.)

Using a game controller with a desktop pc seems...a violation of all that is sacred in the universe.

Sooo, how many players are using a keyboard with a game console? Hmmm.

Nah, it's a perfectly valid option. In fact, I use an Xbox One X controller for all PC games except the first-person shooters and those that require mouse use because of their UI.

I would use keyboard&mouse a lot more on the consoles (which do have full support). The problem is that 99.99% of console games have no support. Not even those that are otherwise identical on consoles and PC.

I have never understood why they don't add support. As far as I know, it would be like one checkbox in most game engines. (Sure, they would still need an UI to configure them, but they already have one for their PC versions of the game.)

I remembered another shortcut to add to this:
  • Toggle Supercruise Assist
Nobody ever thought of that one before, right? xD
