[suggestion] ability to key bind docking.

yes, we need tjhe ability to usse something like Shift-D to request docking... at LEAST when the docking station/carrier/etc has been targeted.
i now have a Strweam Deck, and it is pretty cool, but if i messed with the menu at all, then "1 E E D space esc"... doesnt work.
though the text box filling feature doesnt work either. puts chunks of text in, not the wjhole thing.
had a stroke few years back, and thuis would help a LOT.
im dure there sre plenty odf peopke that would like the feature as well.
post and say hey! if you would like to see it as well.
youi can see my tyopinfg is horrible... have a stroek, see how you do,.. woldnt recommend it thofugh.. first person shooters will be a goner.

Sorry to read about your troubles. Unfortunately the ability to bind the docking request has been ignored by FD since day one. so I don't fancy your chances of getting it changed. :(
One thing that might help you by removing a step is: instead of moving right across the RH panel, move one tab left to get to the correct screen.
Have you tried Voice attack? (I don't use it as my accent is not very compatible with it.)

Back before the stroke, probly would have thought of that. Good idea, I will try that.
Frontier is responding to our needs more now than ever, might take 9 months... but they are responding.

I'm not the only one that had a stroke, typing is difficult, especially when in hurry, or you get excited. Mistyped a LOT more when that happens.

Imagine spending a month learning to walk again.
Now get drunk.
Imagine to your surprise when you realize you have to learn to walk AGAIN... and when you get stoned... ooh, should thought Bout that... so I gotta learn to do things 3 times?
Apparently, some things you have to learn four times, adrenaline kicks in, awe shi....eat wall punk!
I would definitely recommend a stroke for my worst enemies, they deserve this kind if Hell that I am going thru

So now I've given up on correcting typing. I ain't got that kind of time to waste

It's a weird twilight scenario we are in, isn't it?

In the real world I can shout at my AI assistant, be that Alexa or Siri and it will follow my commands.

Me: Ralaxxa! Play the best of Rick Astley!

Ralaxxa: Playing Never going to give you up back Rick Astely

Me: Ralaxxa! Who picked the world's stickiest bogey?

Ralaxxa: Toxteth O'Grady

Yet in our space ships we have to push buttons, so the technology we have now is apparently not available in the future because the technology we have now won't allow us to simulate the technology we have now in a game that absolutely would have that technology in the future.

Anyway, FD, get on the case, CMDR needs assistance.

then "1 E E D space esc"... doesnt work.
You can cut the time it takes by 25% by hitting 1-Q-D :D

I can see if you changed the mapping that it might cause issues, but otherwise it is just a 2-second muscle-memory action. But if it would help some commanders, those who remapped and get fouled up, why not right?

I excuse all of this by just thinking of Elite as a vision of a future with sensibilities from the 1980s. Campy, in that sort of way. Works for me.

This doesn't work if you're not on the Nav panel. And it really doesn't work when you're in VR.

I too would like to be able to have a "Request Docking from nearest Station" keybind.

To be honest I have muscle memory and press left panel and request so quick I don't notice doing it.

When they changed the left menu last time it really messed me up.. lol
