Now that you've added weapon colors to the game, please consider adding color-changing rainbow lasers.
I think you could charge a premium price ($2-$5) and users would still buy them. You could have several styles and sell each one individually. The colors could be driven by an RGB table, which cycles through the various shades based on time and a speed factor (which is part of a style). For example:

- Fast cycling between red and blue - security ships might use these "police" colors
- Slow cycling through 64 rainbow hues
- Strobing through the rainbow hues (instant color switch through 8 hues, vs. fading between colors)
- Very fast cycling between white and purple
- Each shot is a different random color and does not change for the duration of the shot
- Each shot cycles through the rainbow hues and does not change for the duration of the shot
- You can add to the list any time you like, for another boost in revenue
- Some of these could be limited time offers, like red/green Xmas lasers
