I have just been watching a wonderful lecture by Emily Levesque, called: Emily Levesque Public Lecture: The Weirdest Stars in the Universe
You can find it here:
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR-l0b2iYy0
At 9:40 she shows us that Betelgeuse's granules are much more pronounced and the entire star looks extremely 'alive' boiling and roiling.
If this was in the game it would look extremely spectacular I think.
And it's not just Betelgeuse. Other (most) red super giants too should look like this.
It is a wonderful lecture by the way. I highly recommend watching it.
