The commander creator as presented in 2.3 Beta is a good start, but I believe it would greatly benefit from a save/load function with at least 2 presets per commander (one for the baseline and one to tinker with or one for male one for female), as well as an export/import function.
Using another game as an example, Bioware incorporated a code display into the setup for Commander Shepard which allowed users to save the current state by copying the code into a text file. Pasting this code back into the character editor resulted in the same build appearance showing up should the player wish to duplicate a commander created earlier, or by another player.
As it stands now in ED, the player can create an avatar. But, once the commander makes and saves any changes, the original avatar is lost, even if the player wishes to revert to the older appearance. The avatar must be recreated each time after any changes or experimentation.
I briefly hoped that there was a state saved for each of the genders, as while I was experimenting with the avatars, switching between the male and female avatar retained the original male avatar while edits were being made to a female avatar. Once the holo-me was saved and exited, however, the original male avatar was lost, and now only the female avatar was retained.
While it is possible to note down each and every option used manually (start with male preset 5, edit nose to preset 3, change hair to preset 9, etc.), it would be much appreciated if this were to be streamlined into a simpler user friendly method.
