The compass is of limited use during combat, I propose the suggestion that it also 'track' the current selected target and its relative position as it does any other marker it has locked on to.
In a combat situation, I have noticed the Compass is either locked on to what ever I have locked as a 'destination' or unused if I don't have a target lock, rather then my current 'selected' target.
I use 'target next/previous * target' functionality, which gives me my next hostile, wing, or other target, but when my radar is a noisy field of dots, looking for the < > around something is a bit of a mess.
Possible limits to this mode are it's only active when hard-points are deployed, and it shows your 'destination' marker when no active target is selected.
This should be a relatively easy change, does not imbalance any part of the game, not take anything from anyone or give anyone an undue advantage, not possible to exploit.
