[Suggestion] Custom ship Decals.

I was thinking about all player groups we have in game currently and all those that are still waiting to be injected into Game.

How can we as Players recognize if somebody is part of different group?

Solution. DECALS of those Minor Factions.

Let me elaborate before you start Criticize me.

Every Player Minor Faction would receive in Their Trading menu "PLEDGE" button. Players could be pledge to only One Minor Player Faction. This way Players become actually part of this faction. As bonus for doing so, players could use This specific minor Faction (Player) Decal on their ship.

I believe all those groups already are using some sort of graphics to symbolize who they are align with on forums and so on. Lets Fdevs specify Size of such Decal and Color variations needed. Players responsible for Applying for in game Faction would provide those. Fdevs would inject them in game. Or even better... Allow those leaders to do it themselves (With tool or whatever FDevs might think of).

And why The pledge Button? Well I don't think any of us would like to see enemies of Yours having your Banners. By Pledging You are creating full proof that this person is using the banner/decal only when aligning themselves with certain Player Faction. Stopping that pledge would remove Decal from ship and Livery options.

And Believe me. I'd love to see our Decal on ship that I am flying and banner pinned on Our station.

Also I belive creating ability to name it (with prefix) and make your own custom Reg number would also allow for extra Customization within your factions. And Again those would be available only for pledges players.

Imagine yourself Starport comms instead of going "Core Dynamics Charlie, Alpha, Romeo." Going (For example sake) "November, Victor, Victor 1111". Which would suggest Prefix of NVV with ship numbers 1111. And again I know that would actually make more work for FDevs regarding Voice overs but if we decide to only use 3 letters from Alphabet for prefix and than 4 numbers for reg number (or whatever amount of digits Frontier would decide is reasonable) from 0 to 9 I don't think that would be much problem. While Immersion and Perceiving game would changed drastically. Small details. Lots of Happiness.

Ship Naming tho (Like USS PutShipNameHere, or HRMS PutShipNameHere) I would reserve for larger vessels Like Conda, Python, T9, Cutter, Clipper, Corvette and Fed Gunship/Assault/Dropship. This way it would be much easier to Identify Ships. Vultures and so on: Reg number would suffice in my Opinion.

A game that has done something similar to this is Warframe. In that game there are declared in game "clans" that members join through invitation. A one time purchase Item from their in-game-store is a "Clan Badge" which can be displayed on the character in game for other players to see. Initially there is a default image on the badge, but the leader of the clan can submit an image to the development team for approval and implementation for their clan badge.

The Image submission to the developers came with a one time $10 fee; was reviewed (to prevent profanity, nudity, etc.) and then implemented to be applied to only members of said clan. This method would work for Elite, however there is currently no way to organize groups of players in-game.

I think belonging to a local faction in a similar manner to PowerPlay, with all the implications in terms of influence and relations with other local factions, is a good idea.

I wouldn't mind paying for it as long as only members of Faction can do it. That's why I think There should be a "Pledge" option for Minor Factions that are player based.

Same as Zulu described. Quote below.

Aye. That would be great.

I am wondering if Devs are reading these posts.

Since there is no reply from them I am doubtful. Unless Idea din't get enough attention for Devs to become interested.

Apparently vanity items in ED are quite difficult to implement.
Hence why we only have a few paintjobs for ships.

That said,
I'd love a decal system like on Battlefield 4's Emblem Creator.
It's entirely web based, and it just uses code to create the image that you see in your arm and vehicles.
For EA, it's surprisingly clever. Lol

I'd love to be able to make and share customer decals in this way from my frontier account, then see them on my ship in-game.
It could also be randomised for minor factions. But that would be hard to do without getting some bizarre shapes. Lol
