My request would be for any negative reputation status to have a simple link that tells you (a) what caused it and (b) a list of missions you have to work through to redeem yourself. It's a bit like the UK legal system where you (maybe) pay a fine and do some time of community service. If listing the missions was technically difficult the negative rep would say "do 10 humanitarian missions for the Squeegee Incontinence Party" or whatever, and that would count down as you do them.
*edit* additional element: make the Reputation more granular than just Unfriendly, Neutral (e.g. add a %) so the player can at least see some indication of Reputation improving if they're trying to do that.
