[SUGGESTION] Endearing opening / intro and theme

ED have almost two years and it still have no intro or opening with endearing music. Current music is not bad, but a soundtrack from the Frontier, First Encounters, X-series are better, to be honest.
ED need a 'main theme' what we could hum in the car or work.

I'm not sure about official introduction video, "FD" regularly produce videos describing particular supplement.
- But an Interactive "Main menu" screen would be a good addition:
Depending on: location of the pilot in the galaxy map, type of the star, distance from the star, nearby planets and stations, the oath of a faction, type of ship at the moment and other characteristics...
it would be nice, to make a 2D Collage, with a small animated elements (patches of light, change of the advertising posters, engine exhaust, etc.).

- During boot (spinning ship) can be a small text box with the latest news GALNET text. With the ability to disable a text box in the "settings menu".

I'm quite happy with the opening music, but I can definitely see where you're coming from on the visuals. It would definitely be nice to get just some kind of action montage or something. No rush, obviously, there's certainly other things that want the work first.

As far as improving the opening music is concerned, I think it might be worth looking at how the TV show Babylon 5 did it: a new tune on a regular basis, one for each year of it's life, each building on the previous one. Given ED's intended ten-year plan, I think it's an approach that would work very well for the game.

On a somewhat tangential note, it would also be good to get a new album with the as-yet unreleased tracks - and possibly a remastered version of ED Menus (the current opening tune's rather bland name), since I can find no combination of apps or settings that will render it authentically.

I turned off in-game music. After few minutes in main-menu, only one thing i want is crying. Very often i am listening Frontier or First Encounters soundtracks in background.

... other theme, from BF1943 (remake of 1942). This is the music what is staying in the ear and you dont want jump from the bridge when you listening that:

I want something what i turn on after 10 year and i will say "that was awesome time". Themes from Frontier and First Encounters are the music of that kind.

Terrific? In my opinion it is awesome. I am watching that almost everyday.

ED need a leading theme what will take our hearts.

I grew up nursing at the teat that was the work of men like David Braben and Chris Sawyer, so much so that Dave Lowe's original theme music for frontier still gives me chills when I listen to it today. It was in my head as I played Wing Commander, as I played Starlancer, Freelancer, Eve Online and countless more.

Upon purchasing the game I was a little disappointed not to hear that magic reimagined. I would dearly love to see it - or something of equal epic-ness - grace my screen when I click the Elite icon.

I still have the game installed and modern soundcards do a great job of interpreting the music, but it's the original run on the then wonderful Soundblaster 16 (which I still have and still works!). Nostalgia has so taken hold of me now, I'll just leave this here whilst I go and fire up what in my mind is the greatest game ever made...

What I think would really be good is a complete reimagining of the F:E2 theme by someone like Eric Calderone
