Suggestion: Extend the cooldown/decay of dropped materials and cargo.
I don't understand what purpose a cooldown or decay on dropped materials and cargo serves. It doesn't add any sense of urgency to pick it up; I have other ships that I need to deal with in combat before I can even consider being a sitting duck. It doesn't make collecting the cargo more fun; Watching entire fields of my 'loot' disappear as I'm flying 1-2km back to it in order to pick it up. The mechanic feels needlessly frustrating, why does it exist?
There's also really no RP or in-game logic for it either: when you enter a signal source there can be materials and cargo littered about at arrival. When you're driving around at some surface POIs or wrecks there are canisters laying about too. How long has all of that been sitting there? Plus, cargo and materials are stored in these neat, tidy, sealed little canisters - are you telling me that they can't withstand the void? What do those canisters exist for if not to keep the contents protected.
The galaxy needs to up their game and start manufacturing item canisters from a new material that I discovered called Asmadium. It is guaranteed to extend the void life of dropped cargo and materials by a significant amount, perhaps even indefinitely.
