I've mentioned this before, but now with 2.3 on the live servers I feel its worth bringing up again.
I am increasingly of the view that, done right, a full-blown favour system could be the most important thing added to the game, in terms of helping to bring together all the different aspects of the game.
How cool would it be to call in a favour in order to alter the payment for a mission, or the time-frame in which to do it.
Or how cool would it be to call in a favour in order to get ship/module discounts.....or perhaps "off the shelf" module upgrades unavailable via the regular outfitting screen?
Or how about using a favour to obtain a tip off, or get "rumours" about current/upcoming system states in nearby systems?
However, its greatest utility might be in getting "early access" to one part of the game via your good standing in another.
For example, call in a favour with the Federation to gain knowledge of-or even access to-an as yet unknown, affiliated engineer.
Or maybe call in a favour with Faction to gain an automatic promotion with an affiliated Super Power or Power.
Suddenly, with favours, you theoretically have every entity within the galaxy connected to every other entity, thus bringing some much needed cohesion to the game, as well as giving players a new form of "currency" to play with.
