Suggestion for a New Filter: Displaying All Visited Systems

Hello Commanders and Development Team,

I would like to propose a new feature that I believe could be very useful for many players: a filter to display all systems already visited by all players on the galaxy map.

Currently, it can be challenging to remember the places we’ve explored, especially in a galaxy as vast as ours. Such a filter would provide several benefits:

  • Simplify planning future explorations by avoiding unnecessary duplicates.
  • Make it easier to revisit memorable or strategic systems.
  • Offer better visibility of our progress in galactic exploration.
This filter could be integrated into the filter management section of the galaxy map, alongside the existing options (by star type, economic state, factions, etc.). It would also be interesting if this filter were customizable—for instance, displaying systems visited within a specific time frame or based on criteria like distance from the Bubble.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea, from both the developers and other Commanders. Do you think this would add real value to the game? If you have suggestions to enhance this proposal, feel free to share them!

See you among the stars,

Another thread on this? The devs are pretty deep in the no camp on this one! They even took action to prevent players combining visited stars list to make one huge one!

Oh yes worked out why I misread it now, I was supposed to read that as "systems one has visited" because that's the weird construction English has to mean "multiple hypothetical people doing the same thing as you" ie "players," but none of French German or Dutch would phrase it that way so I see why OP wrote "player". And I don't know what it is in Flemish either. :)

The anticipation and wonder, frustration and challenge - a unique opportunity of great value.
Then, when finally the amazing moment of being the first ever Cmdr to discover a system ... to be the first one to set eyes on a system ... this is a precious moment 🙂

Sorry, no, I would not like this feature to be implemented. One of the most unique feelings in this game is searching out that first 'unexplored' system - and and the experience of finding it !

While I understand the thrill of discovering something new, it feels like reinventing the wheel to limit innovation just for nostalgia. Evolving features could make exploration even more exciting without taking away the magic of discovery

Basically, you just want GalMap to built a route that consists of First Discoveries only, before even undocking, right? That is very innovative for sure and will make exploration more ex-exciting.
without taking away the magic of discovery
Yeah, that will be even more magical than discovering a car keys misplaced recently.

P.S. I'm kind of new to ED and was amazed that Galaxy explored less then 1%. But even that was done by Commanders exploring months and years far, far away from Bubble. Alone. If we are not about to respect that, then why even bother with ED at all??
