I have a suggestion for improving the community goal pay-outs.
One of the things that I sometimes find a bit odd is that I can get the same amount of reward if I drop say 1 Tonne (or 1 item etc) say 15 Tonnes (or 15 items) if I end up in the same tier - which could have been a lot more work and feels a bit strange - why did I bother?
Or if I'm in a later tier I could be dropping 20T or 40T and get the same reward amount. (Sure I get the extra profit in bringing in 20 more items but this is not that much relative to the tier rewards)
So, here's a suggested mechanic change.
What about if you split the rewards so you get a certain % of the tier reward (Say 50%) based on the number of tonnes you deliver relative to the maximum for that tier and the other 50% of the overall tier reward.
So for example, lets say the first two tier rewards were:
Tier 1: 1 Million (20 Items or less)
Tier 2: 5 Million (21-50 items )
Lets say the Tier 1 is 20 items (tier 2 would then be > 20 items in this case).
If I drop just 1 item/Tonne currently I would get the whole 1 Million (plus the profit of selling the cargo also of course - which isn't usually that much)
Using this alternative approach I would get
((1/20) x 500K ) + 500K = 525K + the profit of selling the cargo
for 10 Tonnes I would get
((10/20) x 500K + 500K = 750K + the price of selling 10T of the cargo
and obviously if I bring in the whole tier (20 items/Tonnes in this example) then I get the full 1 million + any profit I get for selling 20 items.
Then for the second tier and beyond repeat the same mechanic
So if I bring in 21 Tonnes in this example I would get (based on tier 2 being 21-50 tonnes/items)
1/30 x 2.5million + 2.5 million = 2,580,000 ish
and so it goes for the other tiers.
of course you could play around with the % split and bias it more towards the tonnage (say 60/40) or vice-versa - depends on how you want to balance it.
I think this approach makes more sense, would be a fairer reward system and would incentivise me to deliver more items even if I don't make the next tier up. And, if I do, I still get a decent jump in reward.
