Suggestion for Friendly Fire/Bounties

I understand that in a firefight you should check your fire. I don't mind having to pay the 200-400 credits if that happens. What I'm less enthusiastic about is having security turn on me in the middle of the dogfight while I'm trying to help them. Personally, if someone's laser glances off my shield I'd just shrug it off. In a 10+ man dogfight, mistakes happen. Still, I can get why security might take a dim view to pilots firing willy-nilly, so I have a suggestion: make assault give you a fine, rather than a bounty - that way, you still have to pay for your indescretion, but you don't run into silliness such as getting ganked by the people you're helping, even if the real bad guy is still flying around.

Yes, you can sneak into a station or go to an outpost, but it gets tiresome being driven off by security repeatedly - especially when the jerks seem to be knowingly drifting into my line of fire. It's somewhat immersion-breaking to have the SpaceCops turn on you, frothing at the mouth over what doesn't even amount to scuffed paint. Again, I don't mind having to pay out extra money if I accidentally give someone a shield check, I just think it could be implemented better.

Any fine under 1k generated from an NPC source should be payable in space. Credits are not a physical thing after all so why have to fly to a station to pay it? It would make the game more user friendly.

I would also suggest that the security ships get fined (not wanted) when they hit you. Yesterday some Anaconda officer almost obliterated me with a friendly fire shot of his plasma accelerator, leaving me with no shields and 18% hull in the middle of a dogfight.

And for the people who always says that you need to known your surroundings. I do know my surroundings and i am also not a fast trigger boy. I always stop firing when a ship is near my target even if i can lose the bounty.
However when i am chasing and firing on my target and the distance between us is 200-250 meters if you fly between me and him - you are plain stupid (and this also happened to me yesterday). I don't think in such situations we should get fined, but i understand the Devs that this fixes will be some additional work and it probably will not be easy. Or maybe they are already tweaking it little by little...

To the OP - when you hit someone during the fight and your target is near death - finish him quickly and get off to the nearest outpost to clear your fine. If the security vessels start attacking you immediately after your shot - forget the bounty and get out. It's not worh it. And killing a security vessel is around 6k immediate bounty on your head. :D

It happened again tonight, a few hours ago. I'm laying into this sidewinder, ripping his hull to bits with my chain gun and a security officer crosses my line of fire. I was about 200m away; there's no way I could have avoided it, I couldn't have reacted in time. Fortunately I managed to finish off the second bounty then point my butt at the space cops and exit. Regardless, something needs to be done; it's aggrivating having to break away from hunting when you just start because the authorities are raving lunatics.

Again, paying the money is fine - I don't mind a penalty for making a mistake - but please implement some other system for handling it. Fines instead of bounties for assault would be perfect, but that's just my humble opinion. Regardless, this is a fun game and I intend to keep on playing. Happy hunting!
