Right now it seems you buy from a station it automatically refills. I guess this is easy and computationally light but I suggest, for cgs at least more of a supply and demand.
This isn't just trying to increase grind but I think it would add more interest.
Say the CG is for a luxury goods then once supplies are exhausted in demand goods could go reduced supplies a little like the rates. To counter this IF you supply something needed then you get given a full allocation of said limited item.
So once all supplies are exhausted the big haulers would end up with an interesting trade route
Eg food from agriculture (which has massive supply) take to extraction economy for metal, then you get full allocation of metal to take to industrial, then get full allocation of computer components which are needed for CG, and then buy farm machinery which take to agriculture.
IF each time you took X to the station it generates 1.5X of the item for the next step. Logic here is we are essentially restocking the station so the smaller ships can actually buy direct allowing them to compete in the CG but the big trade ships obviously make money off a v in demand trade route.
Bonus points if some items count more. So 5t of a rare metal only available through mining may allow you access to 2000 tons of the item for the next step . (This would also make sense for eg the current thargoid CG).
Finally when such trade routes are set up the game generates large convoys of AI carrying the on-demand gear, giving pirates a way to compete.
If this lowers output well that ok FD can adjust tiers accordingly.
