I know it is probably a bit early to come in with additions when currently the focus is on getting the groundwork you laid out into a working state, but I would still like to make a suggestion about the exobiologist role, since exploration is the aspect I enjoy most in the game. And currently... while it is nice to see all the new plant life and handing in stuff at vista genomics, maybe there could be a bit more to it.
I assume for the mercenary role an increase in rank will affect the mission payouts, just like exploration rank affects some passenger type missions. It would be great if we could have missions added that are related to your exobiologist rank. An example would be: making use of those fantastic new science labs/settlements you have. Seriously, I love their design and layout, especially the botanical ones. I have also seen genetic research installations and other bio science related hubs, so... why not have a science mission giver there, asking you to collect samples of a specific type and turn it in at that base at that specific NPC instead of selling it at the vista genomics on a concourse.
Mission Example: We need more data on Bacteria thriving in methane rich atmospheres. Go collect a sample and bring it back here.
The mission then has you find a planet with the desired/specified plant life/atmosphere, do the sampling game, and then return to that mission giver for a reward in creds and/or mats, plus some exobiologist rank increase.
Make the mission payout go up with higher exobiologist ranks, since it makes sense to pay a scientist of renown more for these studies.
You don't need to change anything about the existing systems already in the game. Just add an NPC/menu option to turn in genetic data for that specific mission instead of selling it at the usual Vista Genomics NPC. By having these kind of mission givers be at science themed settlements, you also give another incentive to go there outside of sabotage/delivery mission. Some players might even consider making such a science lab/base their new home, since then you could claim working for that particular lab, for RP purposes.
This was just a quick idea out of my head, but I would love it if we would see something like that in future updates that expand and enhance this new role you introduced.
