Just to make sure: This is something else then the navy ranks you can gain in the game.
I was thinking it would be nice if there was an option to enlist in the navy from one of the three factions. When you enlist you are of course at the lowest rank, you get a small fighter on board of a big ship (like a capital cruiser). This ship goes to conflict areas where you can fight. As you kill more and more enemies you gain ranks and you get bigger ships and you can fly on your own, but you still have to do missions. Of course you get a salary, which gets larger when you get higher ranks.
You can of course ask for vacation, then you can play elite dangerous like it is now. And when you think it's time to leave the army, you can buy your current ship at a discounted price and leave the army.
I think this would be nice for players like me, who like fighting more than trading. Because it can be hard sometimes to find conflict areas. This would of course be an option, you can just play the game like it is now.
Let me know what you think
And sorry if my English is bad
