Suggestion-List: Easy to implement enrichment items

I thought we could congregate all ideas for new easy enrichment items in one place for the devs to see:

The criteria for an easy to implement enrichment item:
  1. It can be applied to animals already in the game
  2. It requires no new animations/easy to implement animations
Item: Heating Lamp
Animals: Saltwater crocodile, Aldabra Giant Tortoise
Animations: Basking

write your suggestions and I will collect them into a list

I'm just shooting ideas. If any don't fit the rules, just ignore them:


Item: Animal Prey Dummy - remember the dummy from ZT2? Same thing. I know we have the piñata, but that breaks, I believe. This doesn't
Animals: felines, bears, canines, hyenas
Animations: cats pounce on it, bears hit it with their paws, canines/hyenas run up to it and bite it


Item: Canvas
Animals: primates, elephants
Animations: the animals get some paint and paint a picture. Bonus: you can sell the pics for some money

Item: Beehive Tree
Animals: bears
Animations: the bear can either climb or shake the tree to get the honey out of the hive

Item: Fruit Trees
Animals: any climbing animal that eats fruit
Animations: same as above

Item: Food Logs simil to Zt2
Animals: Depending on the food (maybe just fruits, grass, hay, insects, honey?)
Animation: I think that they could reuse the food trough animation , just let the animals go near the log and eat, pretty simple.

Heated Rock: for Reptiles and other Heat loving Animals

Big hollow Log (lying): a hollow Log that is lying on the Floor which is big enough for Aardvarks, Tortoises and other shy Animals in similar Size to hide inside of it

Hollow Log (standing): a standing Log or Tree with a Hole in it, that can be used by Animals like the Red Panda (maybe even make it more likely for them to climb in there to give Birth)

Bird House Food Enrichment for Primates and other climbing Animals: a Nesting Box that can be filled with Eggs, Fruit or Meat, for Animals like Apes and smaller Primates

Honey and Apples: Can be put on the Ground for Bears to eat

Climbing Tree with Food on Top: a Pole with a Platform on Top with Food. Can be used by Big Cats and Bears

(not my own Idea) Food Pump for Flamingo Lakes: a Machine that pumps the Flamingo Food directly into a Body of Water, which allows more natural looking Enclosures

Tire on a Chain/Rope: a Tire that is connected to a Chain or a Rope which hangs from a Tree. Can be used by Elephants

Leaf Bedding (temperate Biome): dry Leaves that Animals can sleep in

Plastic Barrel: a Barrel that can be used by Animals like the Polar Bear. Can be used on Land or as swimming Enrichment Item

Filled Cardboard Box: a Cardboard Box that is filled with Hay and Fruit or other Food. Can be used by Apes

Coconut: can be used by Apes and other large Primates which can try multiple Things to open it (for example throwing or banging it against a Rock). Sun Bears should also be able to use it

Small Hammock: a Hammock like the one from the African Building Set (Main Game) which can be used by small Animals like Red Pandas, Pangolins, Capuchin Monkeys

Spices for Big Cats: Big Cats are sometimes given Spices like Curry for Example as Enrichment. They like to rub their Body against it

Harder to implement:

Jumping Tower for Saltwater Crocodiles: a Tower with a huge Piece of Meat hanging above the Water Surface. Saltwater Crocodiles can jump out of the Water to get the Meat

Blankets for Apes: can be thrown around or used to get some Privacy

Feeding Station for Deer and domesticated Animals: Guests can buy normal Food or Deer Crackers to feed Petting Zoo Animals or Deer

Enrichment that is already in the Game but should be made available for other Species too:

Natural Termite Mound: should be made usable for Aardvarks, Pangolins, Chimpanzees and Bonobos

Waterfall Enrichment: should be made usable for Crocodiles

Hammock: should be usable by other Bears and Primates

Edit: would be nice if the Saltwater Crocodile Jumping Tower could be combined with a Animal Talk

Honestly, I think this is the most important change that should be made in relation to enrichment. The SEA pack gave us two wonderful items wich are currently underused: the hammock (much more versatile than the game allows) and that one food-enrichment which only can be used by the Malayan Bear.
The little pool from the Australian DLC is another one that needs to be more versatile (among bears, only the Malayan can use it, which is weird). Those 3 are very common items in zoos around the world for a big variety of species.

What exactly is the Food Enrichment Item from the South East Asia Pack? Never seen it because sadly I still don't have the DLC. Can you send a Picture of it?

And yes, there are so many Possibilities for the Dingo Pool. I use one as Fake Enrichment in a Tortoise Enclosure

This would have so many Possibilities. I think Zoos do even use something similar for Elephants.

Interesting, they definitely need to make it available for Alligators too. Or make a smaller Version of it for them because I assume Alligators can't jump as high out of the Water as a Saltwater Crocodile due to the smaller Body

Do they actually do that? I just think of Mosasaurus, though thats pretty cool if they jump out of the water like sharks.
