Suggestion: Make colony participation more profitable for all players​

Hello Commanders and Frontier team,

First of all, congratulations on the new colony feature! It’s a fantastic addition that brings a lot of fresh gameplay opportunities to Elite Dangerous. However, after trying out this new system, I’d like to highlight a point that I think deserves some attention.

Right now, apart from the Architects themselves, there’s very little incentive for other player types to contribute to the colony construction process. Exploration and exobiology fit in well, but for haulers, miners, or players who just want to help without getting deeply involved in management, the financial rewards are currently quite low.

My suggestion is simple: increase the credit rewards for material deliveries and for the successful completion of construction projects. If each step of the construction process became a real economic opportunity (similar to traditional Community Goals), it would encourage more players to take part. This would be an effective way to make this feature thrive and avoid it being overlooked due to lack of player motivation.

In summary:

  • Increase credit rewards for deliveries.
  • Add potential bonuses or completion rewards when a structure is successfully finished.
  • Provide a visible contribution tracker to help players feel their efforts matter.
This new feature has enormous potential, and it would be a shame if it was underutilized simply due to a lack of financial incentives.

I agree. The material requirement forces colonisation to be a group activity, but there isn't much group/multiplayer framework around the feature such as creating some incentives for those who help you colonise.

(the response above forgets about the fact that only the architect will be doing the carrier - colony ship hauling as you there isnt enough price delta to encourage others to haul for you)

Making the architect role (and its profits) sharable would be another way to encourage actual group colonisation.
 
I don’t think they should just bump up the price commodities sell for, but the architect should be able to put their money into the project and subsidise the colonisation ship, raise the pay out to independent pilots out of their own pocket.
