Suggestion- Melanistic colour variations.

We have some wonderful albino animals but there's little awareness of melanism (abundism).
It would be wonderful to see more melanistic variants in the game.
If you like this idea it would be interesting to see which animals you'd want melanistic variations for.

At least the Black Tiger is Fake. But Tigers with really thick Stripes do exist. A black Jaguar is already in the Game. I assume the black Deer on the last Picture is a Fake too. Not sure about some of the other ones.
But it would be really nice if we would get some more melanistic Animals
These ones would be nice to have:
Timberwolf
Grey Seal
King Penguin
Chimpanzee (I think this isn't really melanism but Chimpanzees can also have dark Skin)
Springbok (even though it's mostly found in Hunting Farms, it can also occur in natural Populations)

I'll expand this List when I remember/find out about another Animal in the Game that can be melanistic

Ohh that melanistic moose..! And the owl, I love it. 🖤
Be aware that some of those are Fake Pictures. Not sure about the Moose. The Owl looks like it might be faked but I'm not sure about it
Edit: melanistic Barn Owls exist and the Picture seems to be real

The melanistic or at least very dark Moose is also real. It would be nice if we could also get Piebald Variations if the Moose will ever be in the Game

I love this idea to be honest I would like to see in in all animals but if I had to choose I would say I would love to see a zebra, peacock and salt water crocodiles!

Can't find anything about melanistic Peafowl. Sure you didn't just see a faked Picture? Also any Proof for the Existence of melanistic Saltwater Crocodiles? I bet if they exist, they would be awesome

I hope not fake pics but peacock is beautiful, I know you get melanistic alligators and caimans but tbh haven seen saltie myself, will have to research! The zebras look so unique would love more variations p.s the pic is alligators not saltwater croc babies 😊😊

I assume the Peacock is faked but I'll do some more Research about it

It bothers me that it's called an albino variation instead of mutation(s) cause not all our mutated animals are albinos, Ie melanistic jaguar. Calling them all albino is a weird thing from the game in my opinion.
That being said i would love to see more mutations as well. Melanism, abundism, piebalds etc

That black tiger is fake but something like this (to the right) would be amazing. Also a good one for the zebras.

Pied peafowl is high on my list, melanistic flamingo, etc. Many of our ungulates also have very interesting mutations from real life which would be amazing to have!!
Aaand last but not least I would just really love some regular variation (contrast and saturation) for the animals that currently have ((1)) look. ie komodo dragon and flamingo. I don't understand why the variation update didn't include it for all animals, it felt half done.

Exactly. I think it's only called that in the Steam Achievement but I think it still counts if you get a spotless Cheetah, a black Jaguar or even a brown/black Llama. Why not just call it Color Mutation then? 🤦🏻‍♂️

I hope if we'll ever get the Sumatran Tiger (but hopefully as a free Surprise or in a Animal Pack) it will get pseudomelanism as Mutation. But those on the Picture seem to be Bengal Tigers/Bengal Tiger Hybrids, so it would be nice too if we'll get it for the Bengal Tiger

Piebald Mutation for Bisons, Reindeer and Bactrian Camels would also be nice

Would be great. Also looking into the other Animals again. Western Chimpanzees do have so much more Variation Possibilities and all Nile Monitors in the Game are so extremely colorful

I agree with all your points but especially this. I don't like the white tigers we got. I don't like that we get a mutation that is the result of inbreeding. It just sits wrong with me.. Mutations, especially in a game about conservation, should only be bred by complete chance (and then be hereditary from that line).

That's at least how melanism in Jaguars works and I think also all the Peafowl Variations. Both Parents need to carry the Gene. What I find weird, is that we can have white Siberian Tigers in the Game but I'm pretty sure only Bengal Tigers are known to have the leucism Gene, so either our Siberian Tigers in the Game are hybridized with Bengal Tigers or (what they prove often in the Zoopedia) they didn't do proper Research. Or a purebred leucistic Siberian Tiger was found.
Also why does the Game treat completely brown and completely black Llamas as a Mutation? 🤦🏻‍♂️

YouTube just reminded me of another awesome Mutation that is way more common than the Mutation those Animals currently have in the Game. Primates with Alopecia. Sometimes Chimpanzees but also other Primates (Baboons are the only other ones I'm currently completely sure about) can get completely bald when they reach a high Age. I wonder if this could be implemented into the Game

Edit: at least Gorillas can have Alopecia too

Absolutely should have more colour variations couldn’t agree more 😊

Half of these are fake, unfortunately.
The Wolf is real, the Barn Owl, the European Squirrel, the Panther (obviously 🙃) and Black Red Foxes also exist (just don't know if they also exist in wild Populations). The Moose might be real (I know, very dark Moose exist, but don't know if they can be that dark).
Don't know which Species of Snake this is, so I can't really say anything about it. Just saw on the Deer Picture that the Flower on the right Side is grey, so definitely a Fake. But I think at least Roedeer can be also melanistic.
The really obvious Fake is of course the Tiger

Black moose are indeed real. You can find many pictures of them on google plus there are sites that list black as a normal colour along with brown for them.
The deer one is very fake as you said as melanistic deer don't have the white spots even as fawns.

Planet Zoo currently runs on a 0-1 system for color variants - be it Albino or Normal. Any alternative color variants are determined by another value, which has a random chance to show a certain color on a 3-wide variety spectrum (The Llamas in particular have this, but some others do as well, these are psuedo-variations). In order to implement Melanistic variants - the dev team would have to kinda rework a lot of code for all animals, or rather, some that they pick and choose just like the albino system, and work it in that way. Currently we only have one melanistic animal officially ingame, the Black Jaguar (Which technically is an albino), and I would love to see Planet Zoo implement more across the board for species that don't have albinos (Particularly everything in the Aquatic Pack besides the Caiman). Or, if they're feeling spicy, they could implement a whole new line of code that is an additional variant to albinos, and I personally think it'd be really cool to see!
