Larger ships have bigger module bays, but not necessarily a lot of them, and not all modules need to be big.
I propose the idea of a "Module Splitter", which would allow you to install more than one module in a single bay.
It should come at a cost: Say, it takes up 1 unit of size in the module bay. For example, if you have a size 3 module bay, then with a module splitter, you could fit 2 size 1 modules, or in a size 5 bay, you could fit 2 size 2 modules, or in a size 4 bay, you could fit a size 1 and a size 2.
