Suggestion: Multiplayer missions

Patrol:

Kind of like the old Wing Commander game. Group jumps into a Strong USS and has to fly a patrol route of 4-6 waypoints. At random points during these you may be harassed by various groups of pirate / bandit / crafts.

These could be tied to reputation / faction, say Federal patrol for Empire insurgents

Blockade Run:

Use similar mechanic to the "Seeking Luxuries" but put NPCs far from the spawn point. Heavy opposition to get to the Type 9s requiring good protection from escort. Maybe make a Trader type craft (T6 / T7 /T9) required to take this mission. Once the NPC ships take the desired cargo the wing shares profit equally (or maybe slightly more to trader since they risk more). The reward should be high enough to make it worthwhile for everyone - 1500 profit per unit cargo. This would strongly encourage traders and fighters to cooperate.
Do you bring 1-2 or 3 traders or more escorts? Will armed traders make a resurgence? (Perhaps this is a new role for the post nerf python?)High risk and high reward!!

Convoy Hunt:

Similar to the previous except your goal as a attack wing to destroy ladden ships with heavy Escort. Some of these may be anaconda's that may not go down easily. The degree of reward should vary with how difficult the opposition is expected.

Track and Destroy:

A variant on the bounty hunt where you need 3-4 players to find and simultaneouly clear from enemies or hold positions in different instances in a system to "triangulate" a target's position based on intercepted communications.Target could be located in a neighboring sytem based on how quickly the players capture the points after mission starts, or if you take forever doing the initial phase the target ship or group of ships can get farther away in the galaxy requiring longer travel to a distant system. Reward should scale based on the difficulty of final traget group in the final instance and possibly on how quickly they are destroyed.

Of course it would be nice if the single player missions would be rebalanced / increased in reward for more higher end PvE content as well.

Cheers!!

I haven't played 1.2 yet but i know in the discussion leading up to it's release there was mention of things of that nature. Guess we'll wait and see.

This works only in a setting where you don't have supercruise. Why are you patrolling some silly waypoints in the middle of nowhere? Why are hostile ships appearing in the middle of nowhere?

1500 profit per unit is hardly an incentive, 1200 per unit profit is not hard to come by if you seek around. Why would anyone waste their time with running a blockade for such tiny addition to their profit? Also a can of worms in terms of high tier ships wings, you can pretty much just plough through anything with enough shield boosters and cells if you're in an anaconda. Just target your wingmans' target and set your turrets to target only, 4x anaconda makes short work of anything.

So basically the same as going to a RES and looking for wanteds.

Does the reward go down as time progresses? Why is it necessary to hold these arbitrary points in space to find that special someone?

I like incentives for players to do things as long as it's lore proof and makes actual sense. None of the above don't seem to be very different in gameplay terms, thus I do not vouch for them.

I'm a bit indifferent about the blockade run, double/triple profits perhaps? The rest are very good concepts (i been thinking the same improvements to missions structure) . The current mission structure needs an overhaul, and this would be good start. A might add that player can go han solo for these type of missions but it'll be harder or the game should scale them to be a bit more easy? Oh and +1 for the idea to better the game

And perhaps Spy misssons too, you must run silent, lurk behind asteroid and "eavesdrop" ultra secret meeting between Fed and Imp double agents / traitors :) (Sorry this scenario works perhaps best in solo, but at least more risky if the whole wing is running silent)
