Something I'd like to see in the post 2.4 overhaul of core game-play is much more interesting variations within existing passenger missions-using both adaptations of Mission Wrinkles & Follow-on Missions.
-For example, it'd be nice to see passenger missions that require Commanders to make rendezvous with other ships-either via the inbox messaging system, or using the current Mission Locator system. These rendezvous could be to transfer your passenger(s), take on an extra passenger(s), take on cargo/data the passenger(s) needs, or hand over cargo/data on behalf of your passengers.
-A slight variant of the above passenger mission is the one where your passenger asks you to drop in on a USS to pick up something they're looking for-like personal effects, or Encrypted Data, or Trade Data, or Prototype Tech, or Rebel Transmissions.....to name just a few. In some ways, the above two variants can sometimes be linked together to form a single mission. For example, you take on a mission to transport a rebel leader. On your way to your destination, he says he has received intelligence about some rebel transmissions in this system. You pick these up (they're illegal, btw
), then you get another mission branch, asking you to go to <System name> to rendezvous with <NPC Name>. This could involve the handing off of the transmissions, or it could involve-for example-the transfer of some rebels (bulk passengers) to your ship.
-Another variant might be one where, for whatever reason, your passengers insist you make a detour to the nearest facility, perhaps with a strict time-limit attached. After you arrive at the facility and wait for a 10 minutes or so, the mission can continue on as before. This could be a medical emergency amongst your passengers, or a life-support breach in the passenger cabins. It could also involve Doctors or Aid Workers providing aid at a facility, before heading to their original destination.
-Another thing I'd like to see is a significant increase in the number of passenger specific items/activities that passengers might ask you to get/do. Like a criminal who insists you pick up some illegal goods for them, or the scientific team that as you to pick up scientific equipment for them.....that kind of thing.
-Last of all. I wouldn't mind a passenger mission where you take a passenger to their destination, but then have them ask you if you can come back later-at a given time-to take them on another journey.
Anyway, just a few ideas.
Marcus.
