Horizons [Suggestion] Please make the compass show as soon as orbital cruise starts..

Yes, it's odd that the Lat/Lon is shown but not the compass tape and for navigating to somewhere specific it's useful to have both.

It only appears after you drop.

This makes it hard to know what direction your going on the planet, and hard to get to specific co-ordinates. Only the lat/long shows.

Thanks

logically would that work though.....surely with no contact with the planet or its tenuous atmosphere or magnatism or whatever it picks up on, it'd be like having a compass is empty space and therefore mute wouldn't it

So, the lat long appears whatever type of planet your on. And the compass appears after you drop whatever planet your on.

Therefore neither relies on any properities, magnetic or other, of the planet.

If your going to show lat/long in orbital cruise, there is no logical reason not to show compass. After all, a simple computer would be able to compute direction just by monitoring the lat/long figures and computing a vector over a period of time.

So, please, pretty please ;-)

Hm, even in our times we have devices to help with navigation. Would it not make sense that a starship has something like that?
You type in the coordinates into some device and it displays the point to fly to in your HUD ?
Just my 2 cents ;-)
cheers

This is one of those things that I never knew I was missing until it was pointed out. Now it's going to bug me badly :)

A very good request!

How about making the planet schematic on the left actually useful? Overlay grid with lat/long lines and show current position...
