Suggestion: QOL- select destination star from backdrop

Out in the black I often see stars in the distance that I'd like to visit.

Finding them on the Gal-map is a very frustrating affair.
I'd like an overlay that allows me to get infomation on stars I see from my cockpit and select them as destination for the autopilot.

Good idea, thought about this one as well while playing the game.

"Would like to go to this interesting looking star / nebulae, but can't figure out where that is exactly/figuring out would be too much of a hassle..."

And, who exactly are you to judge laziness of people you don't know anything about? I suggest you to find something better to do with your time, as it seems what you are currently doing is not having good effects on your behavior...

Except for the minor problem that the background is a generated image from your current systems position in the galaxy and contains no navigational information, not even star names, so you could select a point in the background to give a direction but not a star, a distance or a coordinate, all the things the route plotter might require to actually plot a route. This becomes particularly clear if you try to fly towards a nearby small stellar nebula, even if you travel the few light years between the nearest star and the nebula the actual image on the background won't change even though you should be in the middle of the nebula, it would still look like a several light year distant small stellar nebula.

Thing is. The game about playing the game not having an autopilot and having the game playing itself. It only caters to Bots and Gold sellers and lazy players. If the Op took the time and did his research he would have found why it will not work.

Now the first part of his idea clicking a star in front of you and being able to click a star and have the game plot a route that I am fine with. You are still playing the game.

@ Lestat, chill out a bit man. This is the suggestions & feature request part of the forums.
Clicking a star on the backdrop and plotting a route towards it is exactly what I was suggesting.
An added feature could be to display information like name, distance and star type.

My request has little to do with 'being lazy' and more with the difficulty in finding a distant star on the galaxy map.

See the only issue I have with your idea is the idea of AUTOPILOT. That part of the idea is for lazy pilot. Anything that cater to players who walk away from the game and letting the game play it self is what I don't like.
