Suggestion? Quite frankly, I am slightly amazed that we do not have our own captains cabin, with Decor u can buy???

Hey Frontier,
It's a bit obvious I know...
But why do we not have a captains cabin yet???

You could rince us for cash, on the cosmetic's of course...
However you could add little touches, by making things only available if you had been to a place.
Have a bottle of Lavian brandy on the side, etc...

Why is this not a thing yet?
(Obviously I do not expect an answer...)

However, as it is such an obvious cash grabbing money spinning winner...
Why not?

Just wondering?

Yay, +1 for ship int... captains cabin's :)

I wouldn't mind being able to walk off my own ship too though, you know.. for that "Armstrong moment"

Yeah, interiors is dead in this game. It was one of the few features I actually cared about for Odyssey, along with ship boarding and ship board combat gameplay. I maybe could have forgiven that had they been honest, or at least, less misleading about what we were getting instead of just saying "not at launch". Which left a great many thinking it was possible later on, when they knew it was not. I still could have gotten over it, if we got a couple new ships or SRV out of the deal. But no, we got a 2015 era B rate FPS.
But, Horizons is still OK for the most part. Great as it always was. Just hoping they don't screw that up when they eventually merge.

Give us the Cobra 5 at least. Same as the CobraIV except a size 5FSD or Thruster mount. Make it either fast or jump further or something.

You'd think that would tip FD off to how much their players want it. 🤷‍♂️

There was a poll on youtube which asked if people wanted ship interiors or not. Thousands replied, and I think 90% said yes.

Then there was another poll on youtube which asked if people would rather have ship interiors or full atmospheric worlds. Thousands replied to this poll too, and atmospheric planets won.

So technically FDev could add ship interiors, please a lot of people, and still have even more people clamouring for full atmo worlds. (Plus on top of that the ship interiors crowd would then start demanding gameplay loops to use with their ship interiors.)

Sure, I'd like both, but if I was forced to choose between them my vote would go for a fleet carrier concourse, and Apex to/from fleet carriers. (Also a way to bypass walking from the front of a Cutter all the way to the lifts.)

One of the issues is, as with all housing options in all games, does the work required to develop housing actually justify the amount of time the players use said housing. Many MMO's get around these by having buffs associated with housing and various functions such as parties for other players and stuff like that, but that's not going to happen in ED. The most likely thing that will happen is players will look at it once think, "that's nice" and not go there again because there's no reason to go there.

When I log off I don't do anything special, if I am on my SRV that's where I log off, if I am sitting in my ship exploring or mining that's how I log off. Why would I get up, spend X amount of time going to my cabin sit or lay down and log off, then log back in, get up, walk back to my pilot seat, start playing. When I log in I want to be where I can do stuff right away, not spend x amount of down time getting to where I can start playing, so most likely for me, and most players, it would be a "use once and never again" function, unless there was some game play purpose to it.

So yes, rather have the devs working on landable earth likes than cabins.

lol, I think there might be a lot of use for ship interiors or captains cabins, moreso than what has already been added.

it's roleplay value, which is missing a great deal, the procgen world in game will simply never have enough to be all that immersive so at the very least they could make us feel like a pilot of a ship rather than the ship itself, having ship interiors also provides all sorts of other opportunities, primarily for piracy, instead of just forcing open someone's hatches you board them, space-them, (or sell them into slavery), and then tow them to the nearest space chop shop for fun and profit... etc.

frankly I'm amazed you're so short sighted as being unable to see the actual potential of interiors.

Oh I can see potential in interiors, I just think what people are asking for at the moment has no use at all. You say role play? In my role playing days, of which there were many, an old D&D player here, it usually involved other people, an empty cabin aboard an empty ship just lets me role play, what? Zero. Role play is best when done with other people, do it all alone with no-one else around, well go ahead, see how long that amuses you!

The point being there is heaps of potential in interiors, but none in what is currently being asked for! What if they had just put legs in the game and nothing else, no FPS, no new planets, no new bio and geo, it would be just getting out of the ship on the same stuff we already have, not very useful and no additional game play, boring, that's essentially what you are asking for, a room with nothing to do, whereas I would prefer more useful stuff.

For instance star port interiors! Walking in the garden ring of an Orbis would be nice and plenty of space to put useful game play, even PvP combat in some areas of stations, you could go hunting criminals for instance down dark corridors. Boarding abandoned generation ships and fighting mutants and other nasties to collect valuable goods. Sneaking down the dark corridors of abandoned Guardian Bases. You want an empty room, in an empty ship, with a bed and a chair I suppose....nice!

That's in fact some of what I though we were getting with the legs update before the reveal, but there's plenty of time.....a cabin, lol!

I should add, in keeping with the title, the main use for cabins in ships would be for FDEV to get money out of players. I don't have an issue with that specifically, I have name plates on my ships that I used real money to pay for, but I would be against introducing assets with zero game play value simply to sell stuff to players. Put forward a use case for cabins that goes beyond just a place to go and put purchased decorations and sure I can support that, but I haven't seen one yet, whereas other interiors have clear game play uses.
