[Suggestion] Re Material/Data Brokerage.....Exchange rates

So we know that Sandro has given a strong indication that we will be getting Brokerage Contacts for the exchange of Materials (&, I suspect, Data). He has also mentioned that exchanging more common materials for rarer materials will have losses attached to it.

However, what I'm thinking of is.....why not just have a straight up exchange rate? So if we allow for Very Common; Common; Average; Rare; & Very Rare Materials (both natural & artificial), then maybe we could say-as a starting point-that 50 units of Very Common Materials might get you 1 unit of Very Rare Materials, 30 units of Common Materials might get you 1 Very Rare Material.....and so on down to 5 or 2 units of Rare Materials for 1 unit of very rare material.....just as an example.

Of course, this exchange rate might vary slightly based on the relative scarcity of the materials within that system. So if a system was especially rich in Cadmium, then the exchange rate for Cadmium in this system would be better than for most other Rare Materials.

Anyway, just a thought.

Could it follow rules similar to the commodity market?

Demand, as well as scarcity, affecting local prices.

Well yeah, that was the point I made in the second half. You have a base exchange rate, but that can be influenced by in-system relative abundance.

On a related note, calling in a favour with the Faction that runs the station would further shift the exchange rate in the player's favour-for 24 hours.

Or another 'black market contact' that you can win favor with, ie do a job for him/her and they'll help you out with a rate on fenced materials would work, too :)
