Suggestion: re Notoriety

in the wiki it says the following

As of Feb 28 2018, Notoriety does not decrease while in a solo, or private session.

I think this should be changed. If I am playing in solo and get a bounty, I should be able to reduce my notoriety in solo. If I get the bounty in open then fine, I should have to stay in open to reduce notoriety. This seems to be extra punishment for someone playing in solo that they have to go to open to reduce notoriety.

Same with private, if you are playing in a private game then you should be able to reduce your notoriety in that private game. Forcing a player to play in open when they don't normally play there just isn't right and serves no purpose other than to further penalize the player.

I thought you could only get notoriety by attacking another player? No I look it up and now I see it can be gained for any murder crime, but I think the issue here is that how do they tell whether notoriety is gained through killing NPC's or killing other CMDRS. It's to prevent people going on a murder/hobo spree then hiding in solo while notoriety drops, but since notoriety can be increased both in solo and open it's a problem I guess, unless they have a different system for killing NPC's and CMDRS, starts to get complicated I guess. I just avoid getting notoriety by not equipping weapons so I can't kill someone even accidently :D

Crime N punishment

Hi Devs etc...

New to the forum and have joined purely to say guys??? Elite is awesome dont get me wrong , and the free content is amazing thankyou... but who on earth thought this notoriety stat was a good idea... let alone a HIDDEN stat... seriously so I have to sit here for maybe 20 HOURS just to see if MAYBE it is dropping... come on dudes..... I hope I am missing something here, cos this is stupid..... why dont you decimalise the stat and have it, say in with the ship stats... so you can check if its dropping 10....9.99....9.98... etc..

I dont mean to whine, but the frustration levels are astronomical here!!!! if theres some algorithum ticking away that will determine the fate of your pride and joy then at least let us see it....no?

I had just got into the rythym of these skimmer missions and BAM one tiny mistake and all of Federation space is locked out for a totally indeterminable amount of time.... 100% of my fun Dashed on the rocks.... rage quit...

According to the Wiki i have to be in OPEN space ??? where my one little mistake means every bounty-hungry player will be doing all he/she can to kill me and my lovely Python... all the while I have NO IDEA if this huge risk is even blooming doing anything... ARGH.com

I seriously hope im missing something here, I hope I am wrong and you've just ferreted this away in the menus somewhere.... I love(d) this game, now im not so sure.... silly move Fdev silly move... I dont understand how this got through the sanity net, i really dont...

Now im sure its easy to say, "well go and do other missions or something for a while"... but WHY? I paid good money for the game so I can relax, fly ships, do some bounties, appreciate the view, but this system has spanked all the fun out of the window... I logged on this morning made ONE small mistake and now I have to SIT STILL !!!!!! for an UNKNOWN LENGTH OF TIME up to 20 BLOODY HOURS... WHYYYYY argh (rant over but I am upset here..) ..... cant interstellar factors just put increased percentage on top of the fine according to how notorious you are?

they obviously have a system in place that lets them know if the player is playing in open or solo or private. so using that same system they should be able to link the notoriety to open, solo or private and only allow it to go down while in that playing field. If I get a bounty in solo, they should be able to tell and so should be able to allow me to lost that notoriety while I play in my preferred game type of solo. making me leave to open to lose the bounty is unfair.

I believe the wiki is incorrect here. I am watching a friend stream his game play as I type this. He gained 3 points of notoriety in a private play session (though we have no idea why he gained it) and then lost 1 point during that same session. Took about two hours for the point to drop off.
