[Suggestion] stop relying on word of mouth!

Firstly, I'd like to say that I love this game, as so many others do, it tends to occupy any spare time I have, even if I can't play it I'm thinking of tasks and strategy's for when I can play.

However.
Even the best game in the world cannot last without a steady stream of new players! almost all of the players I interact with discovered the game by accident or from friends who'd found it by accident.
Even after discovering the game we still see regular posts here and on other forums asking "is it worth buying?"

Now I'm no business guru by any stretch,
But to my reckoning 2 things need to be done.

1) advertise!
And before the inevitable "we had an ad before star wars" response, I'd like to point out that an ad before one movie for one week, does not a campaign make! Hell even WoW had a prime time campaign including numerous celebrities.
Now I'm not suggesting you go to those extents but clearly something needs to be done. I mean, I could even argue that star wars wasn't necessarily the right place for the ad as that franchise is more about action then strategy, exploration or discovery which are some of the core properties of elite dangerous.

2)a complete rework of the game demo.
IMO 1hour access to the training missions gives prospective players little Idea of the game as a whole.
I would suggest a set bb mission in a random ship and a limited bubble of inhabited space to explore in solo. Exploitation of this would be prevented by the inability to take subsequent missions, and a message to purchase full game if an attempt to jump out of the 'training' bubble. Also progress would not be saved.
Just enough to lure them in 😋

I like your second idea. A bubble with a limited set of systems (that have some sights to see - eyecandy is important), limited ships and modules available and a limited set of missions you can do. Could be a nice teaser for the main game. You could include a download key to it into the Arena standalone product, too...

Also: Utilize your community! People have made awesome youtube commercials for ED:

Ship Commercials

I've seen these commercials, but once again, nobody would see them unless
A. They already knew about them.
B. Someone tells them about them.
C. They randomly chance upon them
