One thing I've been wondering is why stations are almost always located in...boring locales, specifically speaking, stations around gas giants always have (there are exceptions of course) orbits with 0 inclination to the ecliptic and always very far from the giant itself, i can understand that for navigation purposes it can be useful but so much of what brings an "oh wow" moment in elite is wasted, what i'd like to see is:
The majesty of the planets in elite is being wasted by having stations and outposts so far out, to illustrate the idea I've created some screenshots by placing a coriolis station on top of some images taken while exploring, I've removed the background around the station as best as i can but i'm not a professional so it isn't perfect:

Seeing something like those when dropping from SC would sure make my day!
What do you guys think?
- Stations very close to gas giants (while still being quite far given the size of the things)
- Give some inclination to the orbits so we can see the beautiful rings!
- Put stations inside the inner limit of rings and give it an inclined orbit
