[Suggestion] The big thing!

Hi fellas,

ive been playing this game for some time and it is awersome and i love the idea of creators that you can influence systems and events in this HUGE universe which can lead to unexpeced outcome, based on what will players actually do and thats something ive never seen in any game.

With this in mind ive came up with some ideas which would help to create more profound sence of "my deeds actually influence game" and "i have huge freedom in what am i doing".

I would realy love to hear Your opinions on those ideas and feel free to expand on them or tell me that ive came too far and that is unattainable ;) Thank you
Also english is not my native language so excuse my grammar please.

Sector chat / station chat

  • Simple chat in sector and concrete place in sector to feel more connected with others.

Active multiple ship ownership

  • This would expand possibilities of owning more than one ship. You would be able to not onley have more ships, but also be able to hire captain on ship you arent actually occupying.
  • This would allow player to have his fleet and he would use it based on his wishes like:

  1. Trading - "Here you get some money, so go into this sector and buy this stuff, than go into this sector and sell this stuff".
  2. Mining - "Go into this place and mine some resources"
  3. Fighting - "Go into this place and fight on this side"
  4. Even pirating - but when he would be caught bounty would be on your head... your choice. :)

  • This possibility would not be open from start of the game, but after gaining some amount of wealth or title or favor of some faction - Like "You have 5M CR you can have one captain"
  • It would come of course with some cost and chance to be robbed or destroyed.

Clans / groups / company

  • I belive that lot of people would love to have some official way how to connect with others and influence universe togehter.
  • This would come with shared account, chat and events.
  • And one big thing to which i get in a sec their own stations.

Stations

  • Yea this is the big one and would add huge influence and possibilities for experienced players.
  • It would be very costy and hard to maintain so single person would not be able to sustain it.
  • So players would have to form "company" which would have to get really good relations with one of factions and pay big ammount of money to get it so this possibility would be accessible onley for most wealthy and pro players.
  • There would be manager and players would have to get resources and workers so they could build it and sustain it.
  • Highly demanding but highly rewarding ;)

So this is all for now and i belive that i am not the onleyone who would love to see those things taking place in this wonderfull game :)

And i would really appreciate Your feed in my back so i know if i should expand on those ideas or i should go home.

Have a nice day and merry christmas.

Big is not always better, eve-online started to fail when the cost of ships (capitals) got so big that the cost of replacing them resulted in less actual fun game play.

Although these are ideas that sound cool I'm not sure many of them really fit into what Elite actually is.

Which at it's essence is primarily a single player style experience.

I honestly don't want to see systems I warp into being spammed by other players, I just don't see what system or station chat offers or actually adds.

Multiple active ships, again I don't see what it adds, this isn't Eve where it's all about amassing fleets and who has the most wins. Nor is it any sort of resource management or Empire building game, features like that start to push the game in that direction and as I say I'm not sure this would be a good thing.

Clans, yes this (I think) though I think it would need quite a bit of thought to be done properly, minor player based factions seem to make sense but I'm not sure how they would mesh or interact with the current faction systems we have.

As I say I see Elite as primarily a single player experience, even the group based stuff going on Onionhead for example is essentially a lot of individuals working for their own purposes but all in alignment. I'm just not sure having large groups of players all under the direction of a few people fits in with what we have. Current "grouping" or "alignment" of players at the moment is loose, I'm not sure pushing that into a more "directed" group via guild etc actually improves the game. Sure it's different but is it better? Doesn't that then the influence the single player has?

Hello mate,
Here are my thoughts :

I second you on multiple-ship options. Elite Dangerous reminds me a lot of "Escape Velocity : Nova" and when you had like 4 ships they'd add their cargo space to yours, fly in formation and coordinate on fights. Mining they did not, but I'm not one to care for mining... Each of them was manned by a pilot you hired so they'd cost you some, unless you hijacked/pirated/bought the ship yourself. Capital ships had the option to keep fights in a bay or in a fleet. And then, when warping (or supercruising in ED) you'd only go as fast as the slowest one (to keep formation, ofc). I'd love to see that come in ED and fly with my fully-upgraded/decked 5-sidewinders fleet (or dream big with 10 capital ships :O !).
BUT. I don't think it shoud come with a title or rank or anything. If you've got the money to hire/buy that many ship, why would you wait for Federal approval ? When you're captain of a ship, surely you know enough to commandeer a fleet !

Clans are a fine idea, but first I think we should implement other things. I'll explain : currently when hunting a bounty with a friend, you're not even sure your friend will end up in the same instance as you so you could both be in the Sol system and not find yourselves. Even with that taken care of, actually only the killing blow nets you the bounty so if your friend plays the bait and you kill the prey, your friend gets nothing. Of course you could say one gets every two bounty, but what if a big bounty comes to help the small one and such ? So first we'd have to better cooperative play, and then add the option to form Cartels.

Stations, at first I was against. But the more I think of it... If a player only wants to play the market, why not give him one ? You'd most likely set the missions on the bulletin board to get cheap commodities you'd then sell for a higher price. I'm a little defiant about the whole recruiting people to maintain the station but then again, you'd need to buy ammunitions for those trespassing dudes, security for those smugglers, and repair crashes from the one that collide on your beautiful station. It's a DANGEROUS idea, but one that could be much fun if done properly.
