Add a trophy case to your ship that can showcase all your collected rare commodities.
Te idea behind this, that at the moment, you cannot showcase that you have been to Hutton Orbital or any other places that sells rare commodities.
So to get a trophy, you have to collect x amount of the rare commodities and perhaps some other stuff depending on what kind of rare commodities we are dealing with. Take all of this to a special person who will for a "modest" commission turn your stuff into a trophy to put in your showcase. Of course these special persons are just that people who have withdrawn to some secluded place, like Achenar 3 (high G landing in this case), etc, taking us player to new places and perhaps new challenges. And of course not all of these special persons deal with all the rare commodities. So we have to eventually visit them all if we want all the trophies. Some trophies are easy to get, but some can require alot of work...
Now we can add a Camera angle to show of your commander standing next to your trophy case and maybe even pointing to a specific trophy you value the most.
Also, why not add a bobble head package that when bought will unlocks corresponding bobble head for every trophy you have. So that you can put it on your dashboard next yo your Braben bobble head.
Once the basic concept is in place, new rare commodities could be added at just about any time. In game events could trigger this etc. The Galaxy is huge and of course there can be lots of trophies to to our collection.
This is a suggestion that has nothing to do with making our ships better or anything like this, this is just a ego trip for some of us that want to show off what we have done. And an opportunity to give us something to do, that will give us a reward that in itself is just a pure cosmetic thing. We gain no fame, no money, etc.. And get to go to new places and hunt for stuff we have not really cared about.
