Suggestion: Warhead targeting OFF toggle

I was in Jotunheim tonight, happily wiping out NPC goons in a CZ, but was reminded all night long of one of my biggest large-scale combat pet peeves.

The auto-targeting key CONSTANTLY picks up enemy warheads, most of which are well out of range and not aimed anywhere near me, and will not let them go until they pass out of range.

I have never, ever, EVER felt threatened enough by an NPC missile to try to shoot it down with anything other than point defenses. So why are they prioritized above all other threats, including that rail Eagle that's pulling rings off my shield as I watch multiple HE dumbfires go aimlessly whistling by on my targeting display?

I get that it's possibly a useful ability vs. PvP torpedoes, so I wouldn't wanted it knocked out altogether. Just give us an option to either prioritize projectiles far lower, or disable their targeting altogether in the 'select next target' context. Please.

And thank you.

I actually came here thinking it was an option to toggle the lock requirements for guided missiles on and off, so you can fire then as dumbfires if needed.

But this idea is equally, if not better, than what I expected.

But I'd also like to be able to launch unlocked missiles as dumbfires. :p

Yep, that would be good as well.

Yes please. I'm much more concerned about the ship currently shooting me than I am about the random missiles flying around. Especially since missiles which are actually going to hit something usually have a short enough flight time that you couldn't shoot them down with your main weapons even if you wanted to.

+1 to being able to fire seekers without guidance too. Which I also came here expecting to see :)

You should be able to neutralize seeker tracking the same way you do turrets, as per the "Turret Mode: Forward Fire" option in the Functions panel. They could either add seekers to the already in-place function, or add a specific option for seeker heads.

Come to think of it, that would be a good spot for my enemy missile tracking toggle too, rather than the Options menu. That way you could flip it on quickly if ambushed or interdicted in a PvP encounter.

I agree, "highest threat" should ignore missiles (at least for now). It's not like it's useful to shoot them down like in Tie Fighter.
