Okay, so I'm currently using some JVC Television that I bought off my uncle for £20. It's decent in gameplay but the display quality anywhere else is a bit... Well, it's rubbish.

Thinking of saving up for a proper computer monitor, 25" minimum. Any suggestions?

Depends on what you want and what GPU you got I suppose I'm using a iiyama in 2560x1440 and don't think I could go back to 1080 now.

Yes I should have specified. Apologies, I'm rather tired. I'm gaming at 1080p with a 4GB GTX 960.

27" 2560X1440 is the minimum I'd go with today.

I currently run a 24" 1920X1200 for browsing while gaming on a 34" 3440X1440 curved, both driven by a 6GB GTX 980Ti.

It all works very nicely together. The important thing is not to get more monitor than your graphics card can handle.

My setup can run ED at the highest settings while watching TV or other video on the 24" monitor and still maintain high frame rates. Limit your monitor choices to what your graphics card can handle, or at least to what a future upgrade can handle well.

Thank you for the information. I was not aware that you could get "too much monitor", as it were, so I've learnt something today. :)

Got a triple ROG swift 27" 1440p g-sync.

and it spoiled me, sitting behind less doesnt cut it anymore.

i was running a Crossover 2560x1440p 96hz monitor.

but recently just played the game on an Acer X34 3440x1440p now i cant and dont want anything else

I have one of those too, kinda pricey but worth every single penny in my opinion. I also had a 2560x1440 Asus (well still using it for second monitor mundane tasks) but now I couldn't go back to 16:9 since experiencing the glory of 3440x1440 21:9 (100Hz too plus a 980Ti to run it). E: D looks amazing!

With the GTX 960, I'd go (actually did...) for one of the 2560 x 1080 ultrawide monitors. Actual size (29" or 34") would depend on how much real estate you have available on your desk - and your budget. If you want a displayport input on the monitor, the choice becomes rather limited.

My god the UK is expensive!

I just got an Iiyama Prolite 32" (1080P) for £210 (¥35,000). It's amazing. Scan has a good selection of Iiyama monitors - check them out; they've always been good for my needs. I have an earlier iteration of the monitor you're looking at buying, and find that despite the manufacturer reported luminosity being the same, the Iiyama is noticeably brighter while sporting a higher contrast ratio.

Thank you. I will check it out. This monitor is just the start of it LOL. Just finished planning a build for a friend in Germany and I've caught the upgrade bug! :p I have a few things I want to try out on my rig as I acquire the means to. :)

Upgraded to a Gigabyte Gaming G1 980Ti and Asus ROG Swift PG279Q about a month ago. My system was good for its time, but 6-7 years old and the 460GTX SLI setup really struggled with Horizons.

Now it's astonishing. Monitor is flawless (I was worried about reports on returns due to QA issues on early releases, but they were unfounded in my case). Key features are 27", IPS panel with 8bit colour, 1440p res, and G-Sync. Set mine to 144hz, although 165Hz is possible.

At 1440p on Ultra in space I average 143.7FPS (1.0x supersampling). 90-100 in busy stations. The lowest on planetary landings is 68-70. Never seen the FPS dip below 60 under any circumstances. Plus the G1 is still quieter and less power hungry than than the 460SLIs.

Technology has moved on! Not cheap of course but I intend to use this setup for a long time to come, and for those who can wait, it will all come down in price soon enough.
