Suggestions for Audio headset with OR please?

This morning I ordered myself an OR DK2, having heard back from Oculus that there is no intention to release the crescent bay prototype, or further DK's (will post as alternative thread)

Now I'm looking at upgrading to voice attack to unshackle me from the keyboard for Galaxy searches etc, so I'm looking for suggestions for gaming headsets which fit well over/under the rift HMD

currently running an X55 rhino HOTAS on windows 8 boot camped onto a 2014 MacBook Pro, so potentially a good test bed for an unusual set up.

Thanks for your help 😄

Just get the best stereo headphones you can afford with the cheapest soundcard that can manage virtual surround.

I have a pair of sennheiser hd600s and a £20 Asus sound card. Transformed gaming for me.

Pretty much any headset will fit over the Rift, you only have the velcro strap and the wire running over the top of your head. I'm currently using a Corsair wireless headset, need the mic for Voice Attack, and it's fine, good surround etc. I also have a Razer Kraken which is fine too, but I had some problems with sound clipping. Driver conflict maybe but it was easier to just stick with the Corsair.

I can only suggest what not to get for ED+rift which is the logitech g930 wireless headset. I bought them specifically for rift use to cut down on cord entanglement but hardly use them even though the sound quality is fairly good.

First problem is that the ear pads are leather/vinyl. When I move my head around they make noise from rubbing over the rift head straps which is really annoying. A bit like when you move in a leather chair and have to make it clear to anyone around that you didn't fart.

Second problem is the weight. I look around a lot and in particular up a lot. Being heavy and not very tight on my head they're always slipping back.

I just use speakers for ED now, but I have a turtle beach PX21 headset that I use for other games which is lighter and has cloth ear pads but the sound quality isn't as good and the ear cups are a bit small for my ears. Being a PS3/PC headset it has a nice long cord though.

I initially thought the built in headphones on CV1 was a stupid idea but this experience has made me want them. They need to put a mic in as well though.
