(Suggestions) Nerf the Anaconda? The case for a new large explorer ship.

Dear Santa,

Probably over a year ago now I remember someone posting about how the Anaconda is an outlier when it comes to jump range because of it's disproportionate base hull mass, that being 400 tonnes. I think someone explained that when they designed the game early on the Anaconda being the only 'end game' ship needed that particular buff to make it more attractive.

I think there is a place for another large ship, which could be used for exploring. This vessel should probably have similar jump range and handling characteristics to the Anaconda, and be a proportionate model for it's large tonne base hull mass.

I would just love it, if this thing could carry a 2 x unit fighter reconstruction bay, have the internals for 2 x 5A cell bank modules, 8 x utility, but if I were the dictator it would also have to have at the fore of the craft 1 x huge hard point positioned below bow with two large points at either side of the bow, and 2 x medium points positioned top mid section.

As well as similar internals to the Anaconda for cargo, 2 x unit SRV bay and small compartments for the scanning gear this would make an ideal combat capable large explorer which I feel the class of is missing in the current game.

I haven't really given the core internals as much thought yet, but would think its probably sensible to opt with a 7 size power plant and if required to get nice jump ranges 7 size FSD if the ship is around 500-1000 tonne. So that when fully engineered could achieve between 20 and 60 jump range depending on how well outfitted it's loadout. So it would need a disproportionate base hull mass like the Anaconda has now, but slightly less excessive and without the size 7 compartment. You get enough compartments for 6 shield, 6 fuel scoop, 6 AFMU, 6 or 5 fighter bay, etc. Ship design could be built around the large FSD, and designed from the beginning with ship kits in mind.

The problem would be that the Anaconda would require a nerf to it's base hull mass, say 200 or 300 or so tonnes added, or whatever to achieve a 20% lower jump range which would not make the anaconda useless at jump range, as it would stay in a comfortable range for trading in, especially when engineered, but would no longer be considered the de facto large explorer of choice, bringing it's more realistic mass back into focus and making the space for the dedicated large combat capable explorer ship.

If anyone agrees with this idea, and enough support is gathered, maybe we could persuade FD to go ahead with such a project?

And it could be in the shops before Xmas!

(I'll just go back to day dreaming again now...)
