Horizons Suggestions on What to do next please.

Hi All,

I recently got a bunch of friends together some of which started ED new, and Some who had played in the past but put it down. So Just to give a quick overview of whats happened over the last few weeks.

I started playing about a Month ago, (took a while to re-learn what I was doing) Joined Power Play after a couple of weeks to Explore that. Love the fact you get paid and new Unique modules. Really love the Exploration of planets (I have Horizons) New ships got me excited hehe, I was raring to go. Further more I am lucky enough to use the HTC Vive and what a breathtaking experience Elite is. I have always loved Elite I am a huge fanboy.

I have 2 friends who had previously play pick up the game and join me, and I talked 2 new players in buying elite, we all play on my private group. We where all having fun, they started upgrading the ships Cobra IIIs and now Diamond Back Explorers.

So Pre-2.1 I was doing power play hoping to get more pilots involved in the cause, 1 Friend was doing mission boards, 2 friends where hauling slaves get money together for their first ships, I was trying to unlock some of the powerplay levels and we had one friend just getting involved in whatever was going on at the time but wasn't interested in PP.

All going well, few bugs here and there mostly to do with Missions not working as intended. We all talked about the plans on the things we could do together in the future when we had money (Res's, Exploring, mining and such.)

Well since then.. All of us have had to stop playing.

Trading became impossible due to Interdiction most of the time. (We decided not to say 100% of the time but so far its been 100% of the time) Obviously in the early days of the patch that meant instant destruction of ships. Anyway we decided to put it down until the patch to fix the issues. We spent the time reading about how to get out of them safely(ish)

On Friday we went back in to check it out. Unfortunately for me, I said i would come along to test how it was myself in my T7 hoping to do 5 trades. Well that was a mistake for me, I got there and on the First run.. Interdicted, But escaped. Arrived at the destination, was attacked in the "no fire zone" but got in the station with 40% hull. Delivered the Cargo. However upon Leaving, was killed before I even got out of the No Fire Zone. The fine details of it all are unimportant really, I know there is a lot of reasons why I was attacked, but 2 things stand out. 1. I was in a no fire zone. 2. My ship with Grade A shielding and Reinforced hull was destroyed in almost no time at all.

I got a tip to wait for fighting to go on outside and make a get away (after a couple of hours of sitting in the station, this happened) I made a run for it, and got out with 44% hull.

Where is the fun in sitting in a station for 2 hours to run away?

Anyway, As a group - We cant Trade, due to the high number of interdictions making it unfun weather we get away or not. Yes, we are all experts of Escape and decided collectively that doing that on every run is not entertaining.

As a group, We cant do Res's, Yes I have a FDL and 40,000,000 Credits. However my friends dont have that and cant afford to kit out ships for res hunting.

The missions for me and my friend doing missions where also filled with a lot of interdiction, and a number of missions we had to abort because the station wouldn't let us complete (even after a number of troubleshoots such as making sure we had cargo space, jumping out and back in, logging off and back on.).

So the question is, What should we be doing and what can we be doing?

The new players are now in "Debt" because of the rebuys and cargo losses.
I dont seem to be able to leave beyond the Power Play influence (Hostile Sectors are a total no go at this time)
Missions seem to only work some of the time and interdiction.
Trading is not a fun or profitable activity and interdiction
No one wants a bigger ship because 1, we cant afford it and 2, we cant afford to lose it.
Exploring is off, because well the new players cant afford to equip the ships for it and even if we could how do we get back once we collected data.
Funny enough, I am the only one that wants to do power play. I still do but will likely leave after Thursday because its not fun getting attacked in no fire zones at stations when your in a none combat vessel.

Even with all of the problems we have had.. We honestly do want to continue with Elite we just miss how it was when we started, only 2 weeks for the new players and they dont want to log in because they are in fear of the next interdiction as it will put them back in Sidewinders, we are just stuck. We want to do mining, Exploring, combat, Trade in equal measure.. Together and solo. However without being able to make any kind of funds it just makes the game impossible, or at best, so Slow we wont be able to do things for Months/Years of game play. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You could have a go at neutron star farming. I haven't tried it since the update, but I think it should still be pretty safe. You fly 12,000LY towards the centre, then 1,000 up or down and 1,200 left or right, so your co-ordibates will be 12,000+, +/- 1200+, +/- 12000+. There you will find the neutron stars by only selecting the bottom star type in the galaxy map. It would be a good idea to watch a Youtube video on how to do it, but basically, you jump in, stop, find the star at the top of your nav panel, target it, point at it and scan it with an advanced discovery scanner. It will take you about 8 hours to get to the fields and then about a minute to scan each one. A trip out to scan 1000 of them will earn you about 70,000,000. You need a ship with a big jump range, ADS and biggest fuel scoop you can get. Something like this:

When you come back, stop at the first station in the bubble to sell 90% of your data to avoid the chance of being blown up, then go and sell the rest to engineers.

Thanks kindly for the suggestion, I have heard of this before. Its certainly an option for me, Not so much for my friends "yet" but certainly an alternative I had not thought of.

Before 2.1, there were no bad guys once you left the bubble, so neutron star farming was very safe. You never needed any weapons or shields. I guess it's still the same.

why cant your friends kit out vultures or cobra mk3, its really cheap and as long as they let you attack first they get no agg but earn bounty kills. A Fdl wing with 2x vultures is gonna wreck any thing pretty fast, tbh same thing with cobras.
