Suggestions - Summary 1.0

Hey fellow Coastarians,

I've read a good amount of Good Ideas on this Forum, but i still don't find certain things, which should be in the Game as well imo. So i've decided to put a lot Ideas i had together in one Thread, which i think are essential for a Theme Park. Some of the things i will list are probably in the making allready, some are maybe not and some have brought up by other people allready. I have not seen everything from Alpha 2 yet, so it is quite possible that i list things, which are allready there. Forgive me if i have not seen all the Ideas on this Forum yet. The 1.0 is refering to this as the First Summary, not to Alpha 1 btw.

Lets start with..

Paths:

I've noticed the recent Update on the Path-System, but still is lacking certain Stuff. I like the Addition of Stairs, which was always a pain to not have, which was also on my "Wishlist" for this Game. Anyways..

- Fences on Path

An Option to trigger Fences for a Path, which also bend along the Path or Stairs. As well as the Option to Delete certain Parts of the Fence and also the Option to choose from different styles.

- 1 Field Path

A Path which is pretty much as wide as 1 Sim, so you could basically make a small Path between Buildings, which lead to some "secret Places" you can discover. Like a Pirate hideout, a path to a hidden treasure, a small restaurant etc.

- Tunnel

If you go towards a Hill/Wall, it should have the Option to automatically add a Tunnel. This will help a lot and later on may as well add "Glass Tunnels", which you could lead through a Sea. "Sea Life" Attractions are a different things as well to mention, but this is about Paths first. :p

- Plaza

There is a difference in building a Platform with an invisible Path on it and an actual Plaza. The Sims also should react different if there would be an actual Plaza, so i guess this is more difficult to add than other things, which also leads me to the next point..

- Lawn

Just a "Chillout" Area, which you could build into the scenery, where sims would go to chill for a while, laying on towels, reading a book, taking a sunbath etc. This would also come in handy, if you think of the addition of pools and stuff like that.

That's it so far, when it comes to the Pathing. For everything else i don't actually need to add a Topic, since it is about Stuff in an allready good situated environment.

- Restaurants

Yes, People have been building these with the existing Stuff and did a great Job, but they are still not really in a Game. What People have built just "looks like" Restaurant. Customizable Restaurants would be epic to build into Houses. You basically would build a "Counter", then "Spray" an Area, of where Tables/Seats are affected by the Restaurant. So if a Sim takes a Seat, a waitress would come along and ask him what he wants to eat/drink and so on. So you would have total freedom on how the seats/tables looks and where they are placed and how huge the Area actually is.

- Transport

Yes.. Transportations are on the way, like the Train which was shown in the latest YT Livestream. But since they are still somewhat under development, they can still change some things, right? Ok, so might as well add an option to have several Stations.

Transportations are a great addition to any Park, but they are limited in certain Ways. So what about adding Stuff like "Golf Carts"? They would actually drive on certain Paths, which have a specific size, otherwise the Park would go Crazy lol. So lets say the most wide Path-Option can be used by Golf Carts. Maybe really hard to implement, since Sims would have to react to them, or it would really look weird and also there should be a total limit of Golf Carts. Basically add a "Rent Station", have lets say a total of XY carts depending on the Size of the Park.

- Chairlift and Elevators

Obvious. I've seen that one Map from Alpha 1 with that HUGE Canyon. Either of the 2 Options would be the best way to get from the Top to the Bottom. Otherwise it is breaking my Immersion, like totally.. if i see someone building a zig-zag path of a couple miles long, just to get to the ground, it is driving me nuts.

- Monuments

You can pretty much build them by yourself with the Terraintool, but not everyone is that extremly good at it. Lets say i want to build a "Paris Theme", then even if i would be epic with the Terraintool, i could not build the Eiffeltower with it. So Monuments like that would be awesome as well.

- Size of the Park

I think i've read that somewhere allready, but i cant seem to find it right now. Buying additional Land is an serious addition, which needs to be added. Esp in Stuff like Career Mode. I love the way they did it in City Skylines.

- Amphitheaters

Also something i did not hear of yet, but is in pretty much every Theme Park, in one way or the other.

- Climbing Park

This i have yet to see in an Amusement Park, it would be just awesome to have it and as far as i can tell, it would totally fit into Planet Coaster with all the Possibilities.

- Flickering Lamps

I have not seen "Horrorish" Scenery yet, but if it is about to come, i would like Lamps near the Path, which are flickering at Night. Adds a total different feeling to it.

- Fireworks/Lightshows

Self-explanatory. But may can we add this also to Rides? As in having an effect of the Rating of the Ride by the Sims, if we have a Lightshow seen during a Ride? Also would like those "Photo-Sessions" during Rides. lol

- Footpath

I am not quite sure yet about this.. But if you have build a lot of Mountains or a similiar Map with canyons etc, i would love the people to actually go on small paths into the hills, which are "invisible paths" at first, but after a while turn into footpaths.

- Scenery

"Nuff Said".. seriously, i can't think of anything, which would improve the Scenery. If i see what is allready possible with the existing Stuff, there is nothing to improve. Some people did insane Stuff like the Colloseum, Tower of Pisa and so on. So yeah.. Spot on allready.

- Animals/Sealife/Pool

Of course i would like to see Stuff like that added, together with Shows like we had in RCT3 Soaked and Wild. But i am not aware if Frontier have this planned, or if this is going to be available via DLC etc. So the moment i see what is going on with Stuff like that, i will make Summary 2.0 ;).

There is many, many, many more Stuff i can think of right now, but there is simply not enough Information yet of future patches to say something about it. For example Management itself, Workers, Money, Marketing to attract more people to the Park and Stuff like Interacting of a Coaster with Water, if it is build really right above it. etc etc

So far.. have a nice day everyone and thanks for reading this far

Great list! I like all of these ideas but have actually been thinking a bit about a couple in particular.

'Monuments' - Since I don't see any way for the guest AI to appropriately assess great uses of the terrain editor or scenery I thought a good solution might be establishing photo opportunities for guests. As the park creator, you could frame the shot anyway you like, ideally showcasing your wonderful 'monument' in the background. Guests would then stop on occasion to take a photo there. These virtual photos could then be displayed on the Planet Coaster website for real people to thumbs up/down. The better your photo op area rates, the more enjoyment it brings to guests and the more your park beauty ratings increase.

'Footpaths' - Similarly, it would be cool to see beautiful paths designated as attractions in their own right (perhaps by simply placing an entrance and exit point). Again, real people 'visiting' your park could rate your path and a good score would make guests happier, draw more crowds, and add to park beauty…

I don't know. I just see so much incredible building going on in this game that I really want to see a mechanism put in place for AI guests to be able to enjoy these monuments and paths in an appropriate way.

A lot of great ideas, many of them have been requested before, but this is a well combined list. [up]

Its unfortunate because many of these things will not get added due to time restraints... but, if it were needed to delay the release of the game a few months to achieve everything you are asking for, I would be all for it [yesnod]

I don't see any reason these things need to be in the initial release. I can be patient but these would make for wonderful updates at some point in the future. If I recall, tunnels were added with the Wild Expansion in RCT3.

Thanks for the Feedback so far guys. :)

OH right.. i did not think of it in that way, but totally makes sense now. Having an entrance and a exit and those ways actually being an "attraction" on its own is quite an nice idea. Totally like it.

Yeah exactly. That is what is kind of bothering me, that all those great buildings are not really affecting people, or not having some sort of interaction.

That is why i mainly thought of "Restaurants" in that way and i could also see a good amount of options with the "1 sim wide path", which you could easy inplement in those houses, so people actually could go upstairs, explore balconys and so on.

Agreed! I have always wanted to see an area in the style of Tom Sawyer's Landing at Disneyland work in the game. By 'work' I mean that guests view it as an attraction, enjoy it (or not), and have it add value to your park besides bring just a bunch scenery with a walkway through it. Placing an entrance and exit would possibly be the simplest way to solve this, but I might also like to see small features be integrated into the path system in general such as swing sets, climbing structures, picnic areas, exploration… in fact one of the neatest areas like this is 'Castle Explorations' at Disneysea where you can explore a castle or a boat, solve puzzles, go down a slide, walk across a swinging bridge, climb on crates, look through a telescope, have a photo op, etc. Your 1 sim wide path idea could work well in areas like this too. Though I'm thinking the AI guests will still never quite get to fully experience all the detail we've created or appreciate the beauty of the balcony view which is why the up/down voting of these features may be necessary.

Could the loading screen be replaced with images of guests enjoying these smaller features at other parks that we can up/down vote while we wait for the game to launch?

These are great ideas! I'm on board with the list, but I think change "golf carts" to things like the boardwalk bikes at Disney World's Boardwalk near Epcot. That seems a little more applicable. I've seen those multi-seater bikes at off-site hotels near theme parks as well.

Here are 3 VERY important things that simply must be in the game.

1) Guest scenery occlusion. Sometimes I need scenery on the path. That happens all the time in real parks. Guests need to be able to navigate around scenery meshes like statues and street lamps, etc and even walls (so we can just make a plaza when plazas are added and then just place buildings down so the building is encompassed by path outside as well as inside)

2) This one and my third idea are imperative because Frontier said they will be doing dark rides, and as of now, you can already do underground tunnels and enclosed buildings.
Here's the idea: sound occlusion. If I build a launch roller coaster and fully enclose it like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, I shouldn't hear the coaster sounds outside the building. If the interior building has music, that should only be audible inside (assuming a fully enclosed space).

3) Light occlusion. I built an underground tunnel on one of my coasters and yet, it's incredibly bright inside! It should be pitch black inside. If I want light, I will add lights. Same thing with buildings; if I make a building with no windows, doors or openings, then the inside should be 100% pitch black. Again, if I want lights, I will put lights. And lights inside buildings should work in the day. I built a roller coaster with a station building that had colored spotlights illuminating the air gate area, but they only activate at night. It'd be nice to have control over what lights are always on, and what lights activate only at night.

I think many others out there will agree that theses are needed. Given the improvements so far, I'm sure they will be added in time (especially when the time comes to handle dark rides - you kind of need sound and light occlusion to do that).

Pretty much agree on all 3 Points Dave. :)

I just figured something else, which is missing. I think some people are doing extreme things, esp when it comes to different themes, which are not even in the Game. Or building a colloseum, or even a friggn Star Wars Destroyer...

But one thing, even though i am probably one of a minorty here, who would even use it:

- Mosaic Stones

Simply small littles stones, where i could choose the Color, pretty much the Color-Palette i have for the Coaster-Trains.

Make 3-4 different Shapes, but still equal size and i am pretty much happy. If i think about, what i can do with Mosaic Stones on Buildings and Stuff.. Holy Cow. It is taking everything to a whole different Level. But yea.. like little Mosaic stones, not HUGE ones, that would destroy the purpose of them. :p

I think what you are asking for would best be resolved by making these two changes.

1. Allow us to scale all scenery objects up and down.
2. Allow us change the color (and possibly even the texture and material) of all scenery objects.

If they made those two changes and then gave us a few basic shapes, you could build almost anything. Plus, changing the color and size of objects prevents the menus from filling up with infinite variations of the same object like rct3.
The game is amazing so far but I have to admit I was pretty disappointed with the color options for the track. When Parkitect gives you millions of colors to choose from and Planet Coaster gives you 25, there is something amiss.

Well, i guess they did not have all colors yet in the game, but will come. And scaling, as far as i know, should come very soon. I remember hearing it on a YT-Stream, if i remember correct.

Hm.. during the Last days i thought of a couple other things, which are basically "minor", but would make life a lot easier.

- Coaster-Buttress

Currently, if you build a Coaster, the Buttress will automatically take place, wherever it makes sense. So good, so far.. now, if you build something near the Buttress, it will disappear.. which i sometimes like.. sometimes i don't. I simply like to "integrate" the Pillars within whatever i am building.. putting lamps on it.. integrate it into a building.. whatever comes in mind...

So i would like a Toggle to either have them behave like now, or make them "solid and count as an "object".

- Natural Ways

Make them even more "natural".. without the little wooden bumpers. It is a pain in the A** to hide them, if you want to do something specific with it.

- "Mud Spray"

Just like Terrain Spray, maybe as well have something you can Spray on Buildings, to add some "flair" to it. Like a bit Mud, Dust, Dirt and so on.

- Flower field

Just like Terrain Spray, but adding actual random flowers to green fields. That flawless Green for miles just feels too perfect.

- Broken Walls

There are a lot of different Walls you can use to Build, lets say.. a Castle. But there are not "broken" ones, to make it actually more like a Ruin.

- "Fun Path"

Pretty much like this:

Can also do some where light glows up, in different colors and whatnot. Would be a fun addition.

- Open Doors

Explains itself.. Actually Doors, which you could choose to be open or closed.

... should be enough for now. At one point i need to sum up the comments in this Thread, up to the mainpost.
