I haven't left Colonia yet to go to the bubble to get started on the engineers yet, but I'm a bit worried that's what it's going to come to. You could make a lazy in-game explanation that the engineers are new and that knowledge and tech hasn't made it to the frontier of Colonia yet, but in practice, frontiers are where those off-the-cuff new approaches and techniques are often pioneered, and suits have, in theory, always been in the universe; we just haven't had them in game until now.
I really hope FDev doesn't throw a 12 hour commute on those of us based out there. It's supposed to be humanity's second home after all, and there's not exactly a small population of players and in-game populace both. It's not the hundreds of billions of the bubble, but it's not 50,000 either.
Either way, until the engineering material reward bug (where engineering rewards given to you overwrite your current total with the reward; so if you had 50 cracked industrial firmware and got 4 more from a mission, you now have 4 total) is well and truly fixed, I'm gonna stay put and enjoy the sights out here. (They have indicated the bug is fixed, but there are still a number of commanders reporting the issue persisting, and some issue-tracker submissions to that effect.)
I still wish we could actually stroll up to Jacues and say 'sup though!
