Suit night vision is rather nice.

I hated the grind to get it, but now that I have it I totally understand why it’s locked behind a 3 engineer grind. It’s powerful and removes a bunch of the danger of being at settlements.

No more searching for buildings or scavengers in the dark or with that puny flashlight. I land, turn on NV and the entire settlement is there for the viewing. I can also see scavengers and other NPCs wandering around long before they can see me, and it helps with aiming and planning. There’s also the fun of sneaking up on NPCs in total darkness.

There’s a weird cycling that happens every 20 seconds or so when it fades dark momentarily and then fades back in. I’m guessing that’s either a balancing measure or a bug.

In summary…yay night vision!

it is nice!

i was lucky and found my NV maverick at the pioneer shops
i didnt want it at first and even hesitated on buying it ... man, im sure glad i did!

i got used to the scan (its no different than the NV on the ship) and i dont really notice it unless im waiting out in the open area

i dont see any reason to put NV on the dominator, it might be good for the artemis ... but, its perfect for the maverick!

I was pondering the same thing with the Dominator. CZs seem fairly well lit, but there are a few dark corners to lurk in and find people.

i posted this end of last month ... enjoy!

I found both a Dominator and Artemis equipped with night vision at the Pioneer stores and it's an outstanding mod!
Am working now to unlock the necessary Engineer so I can get it added to the Maverick suit.

Loving the NV. It's such a sweet quality of life mod. Absolutely not necessary as the torch is more than enough, and there are plenty of mods with more direct impact, but there's no way I'm parting with it.

Clearly I'm frequenting Pioneer Supplies in the wrong parts of the galaxy as I've only ever found G1 suits. I'd been putting off getting involved in the grind, but night vision (especially with current lighting conditions) as me sold. Grind: here I come...

I unlocked mine today, didn't test it really yet, but it looks like a gamechanger.

As others have probably mentioned, the best way to get Oden Geiger stuff is to look for missions that give Generic Research as a reward, and try and get those missions to agricultural sites so you have a chance of finding biological samples in locked cabinets.

The one place I think that the flashlight isn’t enough is at irregular markers and crash sites where the objective is small and the planet is dark, hilly, and difficult to land on. You pop out of your ship several hundred meters from the target and you don’t get bearing information when in the suit. NV is going to come in real handy in that situation.

Dunno, before I got the mod I just used ship NV to scout the site and land in front, with ship headlights illuminating the area. The only times I had to scout a bit more was on some crash sites, if there was too much stuff scattered along the impact trail.

But yeah, that's part of the comfort factor. That's just priceless.

Very handy especially once they introduce "on-foot" Thargoids. You seriously dont want these things to jump you inside a building in the dark.

With the game's current lighting and literal pitch blacks, you can find use of nv in broad daylight sometimes.
