Suits Weapons shopping day reset RNG?

Short question - barely had EDO for one day, but read about going around to find pre engineered suits and weapons, especially right after weekly reset on Thur (e.g shopping day)

I know it is RNG, as in may show up by chance, and not guaranteed to be at any particular station. But question - is it purely random, or is there better chance based on economy? E.g. high tech = more odds for level 3 gear? Or totally RNG and could find them in at some poor mining station?

You'll get better results at the edge of the bubble where there is less traffic. I usually do a system each week for ground CZs then tour the system and report what I find to the sharing thread.

Recently had to move closer to the center of the bubble to find wars and I'm currently in a system where if I have a look at the PS before I start my CZs, then check after, any good gear is already gone. So I haven't been contributing to that thread recently. Trying to make it back to the edge of the bubble but if the wars don't stop it's easier just to stay in the system than try to find another one with High CZs.

I’m sure there’s other opinions that won’t agree, but as someone who has fully engineered many suits and many weapons, I believe that in the same time period that players will go around looking for pre engineered items, and using the associated thread here for information, you can make better use of your time by learning how to loot settlements and completing missions that offer engineering materials. I haven’t counted recently but I have at least 20 suits and 40 weapons fully engineered with different configurations. Admittedly, some of these configurations don’t get much use because they turned out to be suboptimal. And I routinely sell hundreds of odyssey engineering mats on my FC, so I do have experience in this area.

A G1 maverick suit with its energy link, scanner and arc cutter is definitely enough to stealthily kill and loot, to get everything needed for whatever load out desired. Being patient and learning the different settlement layouts and guard/civilian patrol routes will allow a several viable approaches. You can avoid engaging altogether, or carefully silently engage them one at a time. Between settlement loot and mission rewards, I would say a new player could easily G3 engineer a maverick suit and have 2 G3 (silenced, if desired) weapons, including getting the required engineer unlocks in 2 weeks of moderate play. After G3, the rest is icing on the cake. IMO this method is much better and more fun than spending all the time finding pre upgraded gear, and then still being completely green at how to use them.

I have read that if the shop doesn’t sell standard weapons by a particular manufacturer then they are unlikely to sell engineered ones by them, I have not tried this as I read it after the last time I was out looking for stuff.

Well, the shop only sells engineered stuff of its base stock so you aren't going to find upgraded manticore weapons at a PS that only does lasers and guns.

While it may be pure rng. i've always preferred to short list a number of Industrial systems picked from the ones which are usually less visited
Inara can be of great help here (check the Station update info)

As an example: the station below was last checked for personal equipment like 2 months ago
Sure, there is always the possibility that it was visited more recently, but not by someone whos syncing data to Inara - there is that too...

You do not have to be obsessive about checking PS got goodies. If you are visiting numerous places, check the PS at the same time. Or find a system with several PS and APEX between them. Report unwanted finds and check what others have ground.

To start your suit/weapon modding, finding one with one of the higher mods to make things easier.

This is what I do. If I hit a station I disembark just to check the PS. I don't bother much a couple days after the tick in busy systems.

Well good news is got really lucky and found best starter (for me) suit - Maverick G3 with bigger inventory pre-engineered upgrade. From what I've read, Mav suit is best for starting out scavenging, so I've got my starter G2 weapons and nice suit. Still haven't found anywhere selling plasma weapons so stuck atm with thermal primary + kinetic pistol.

Against scavengers, the Scarab SRV is the best suit/weapon that you can get. Makes any fight uneven.

You want to look for the "Ultimate sharing is caring" thread for daily updates on peoples finds. Also contribute stuff that you dont have there!
