I’m sure there’s other opinions that won’t agree, but as someone who has fully engineered many suits and many weapons, I believe that in the same time period that players will go around looking for pre engineered items, and using the associated thread here for information, you can make better use of your time by learning how to loot settlements and completing missions that offer engineering materials. I haven’t counted recently but I have at least 20 suits and 40 weapons fully engineered with different configurations. Admittedly, some of these configurations don’t get much use because they turned out to be suboptimal. And I routinely sell hundreds of odyssey engineering mats on my FC, so I do have experience in this area.
A G1 maverick suit with its energy link, scanner and arc cutter is definitely enough to stealthily kill and loot, to get everything needed for whatever load out desired. Being patient and learning the different settlement layouts and guard/civilian patrol routes will allow a several viable approaches. You can avoid engaging altogether, or carefully silently engage them one at a time. Between settlement loot and mission rewards, I would say a new player could easily G3 engineer a maverick suit and have 2 G3 (silenced, if desired) weapons, including getting the required engineer unlocks in 2 weeks of moderate play. After G3, the rest is icing on the cake. IMO this method is much better and more fun than spending all the time finding pre upgraded gear, and then still being completely green at how to use them.
